Being hit by a massive 6k bill

Hi all,
No update as of yet from EON as of yet. I've sent a follow up email.
Nothing we have would have accounted for extra electric being used
We have moved since the 1st, we are still moving stuff from storage as we don't have a van. The move is consuming life at the moment and I am still working full time.
I will be without internet until mid month as BT takes 3 weeks to connect to a new address. I will update with info as it comes2 -
Thank you for the update - let us know how things progress.
Who have you got your new property with ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I guess that means that you didn't do any of the very important things that we suggested like turning all the circuit breakers off and checking that no usage was being recorded, then turning each one on in turn until you identified the circuit with the unexplained usage...0

Hi All,
I wanted to provide you all with an update
After not hearing back about my case and chasing multiple times, I called eon to find out what was going on. I was told that I would be contacted by them on Friday, but never was (again)
However,
EON appear to have accepted that there was an issue with the meter and this morning issued me with a final bill for less than £20.
Let me say that I am extremely grateful for everyone's support, troubleshooting tips and suggestions. This has been an extremely stressful for me and I am glad and relieved it's over!
All the best,
Superbbill

Glad you've got it sorted and thanks for coming back and telling us.
Hopefully though you'll now read your meters a bit more often, check your bills regularly and keep your own records - save PDF's of your monthly bills and keep them safe for several years after you've changed suppliers or moved. It will help avoid the stress and aggro of trying to sort it all out because you'll know what is going on and be able to deal with it on the spot..
Don't forget to save all your data and correspondence from Eon as well, especially the final bill, just in case they pop back out of the woodwork sometime in the future.
Good luck in your new abodeNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
