    Unless it was a new build the odds are the old meter had gone 'around the clock'.

    It feels like that as it would shift a crazy high 48kWh per day into a low 4.8kWh average...

    Easily misread, especially in a dark cupboard full of spiders!

    Again thank you for your help, Picture of the meter is below which is what I sent to EON when requested yesterday
    As mentioned before, our heating is oil not electric

    Not much room for doubt there then...
    Here is an extract from the manual, looks like yours is configured for whole numbers only.
    So that just leaves us with it not being at zero when it was changed.
    These are pretty old meters so somewhat unlikely you had a brand new one fitted 3-4 years ago.
    What is the meter reading now and what time today was that photo taken?
