Even those who said they wouldn't be coming have done. no mischief to be made here now theres no where to push peoples buttons with supposedly discussion
I said I wouldn't, and I won't ( but cheer if you wish and show your true colours by doing so).
Ignoring the missing threads, posts and - strangely - even a user is more than a hint that all is not sweetness & roses.
No I'm not saying it's bad, but seeing certain users that also posted here is enough to convince me not to bother and to use my time better elsewhere.
If you have the time available and if you wanted a possibly parasitic but anonymous echo chamber for the sort of disgruntled types who would rather switch homes than admit any complicity in what led to closures here it's the place to be.
I have nothing but admiration for the founder as I have openly stated in these forums in the past and wish them well, but I do hope that the infection I see resolves over time rather than become endemic.
Should have stayed a bit longer, the poster in question is back. The poster in question left on their own accord and deleted their post not realising they were deleting entire threads They are back today and they have reinstated their threads
I don't care who joins and who doesn't , not my forum. I shall continue to use this forum as I have done for the past 16 years ( I joined in 2004 but lost my login details ) as I shall continue to use a few other forums. I shall also use the new forum

I can't see them wanting to stop making trouble somewhere, I'm sure that's how they get their kicks, so are they going to try and cause trouble on other boards on here or are thy going to migrate somewhere else?
MSE is a fantastic forum for questions but you have to bite the bullet to get the answer as many will spoust rubbish EG "did you not goolgle, why not pay taxes, why not get a job, why not pay up, etc, etc"
The other day I posted a heads up re 3mobile fake texts asking people to click on a fraudulent link - the first poster posted totla rubbish. I did pull it up and it worked, Why should someone that has been here for more than a few month feels it's ok to take serious threads OT or just post inane rubbish.
And that's the end of it.
Just as well the Arms was closed.
We were warned.
We didn't listen.
Now we have to pay the price.
Let's therefore blame 'us' not MSE.
As has been mentioned, this is primarily a "money saving" site and was the reason for joining.
The social side was / is a nice add-on, but never to my knowledge an indefeasible right ....
Cogitate on that.0 -

I wish they would just split up the part of the Arms where we say Good Morning to each other off from DT where a few people just seem to scream and shout at each other4

I have never belonged to Twitter, but can see most of the tweets from various people. It has become a truly toxic place.

This is all good for the MSE forums as posters like that just created non existent problems. I can post quiet a bit on the forums and waste a lot of my time arguing with clowns that think they know it all. I've said it on this thread about my 3mobile post and the first response was by a joker. I rebuked the joker as the thread was a serious one where real people can get defrauded of everything they own.
Not just MSE but every forum I've been on you have your little cliques where people don't work, never worked, work from home or HQ and spend too much time trying to score points and when you get the better of them IE point out their mistake/s, they take it personally and the PM's start lying to others with too much time on their hnads who then join in to defend the indefensible. Thankfully there are not a lot of them these days and this recent action by MSE will stop these time wasters posting here so people can then raise genuine concerns, alerts, questions via threads with a lot less fear of being mocked or hypocritical posts.
I read last night several threads and two stick in my mins. One was about claiming benefits and working along with trying to get a couicl property, the rubbish that was posted at by some that had been here for a while and the OP was accused of being X, Y, Z etc.
The other thread was by someone who must have worked hard all of their lives like some of here and they were asking about how to safeguard some assets at least to pass on to their grandchildren, children etc as they felt they'd paid more than enough tax at every stag. The abuse, p taking hypocritical stance by those that may never had a penny to their name or managing hand to moth was incredible.
Before I continue with my online shopping I must mention a thread where the OP talked about an nice holiday in the UK but it was expensive with " ? number of kids." the indirect p taking, the condescending, the hypocritical posts was incredible but as soon as the OP hit back, pals came to support the silly posts and yes, the OP was then claimed to be an ex poster and the usual he/she was X, Y, Z, etc.
I'm glad that a couple of posters that spent their lives on MSE may have moved on to trash another forum.
Keep it shut MSE and give yourselves the chance to attract new members that are interested in helping others to save money but who wouldn't join before because of the nastiness & trolling which you'd earned quite the reputation for.
Up until recently you had to log in, even to see DT.
I often used other parts of the forum for advice. If I wanted know about eg holiday advice. I would read the holiday part of the board etc. I would not go into DT and start reading threads about clueless tories as I know that will not help about holidays.
Not really sure where the reputation comes from? outside of posting on here. No one in the real world has ever mentioned DT to me.0 -

Thinking about it wouldn't "Praise, Vent and Warnings" cover most of the political type threads? They certainly contained a lot of venting.0

Tbh, since the site redesign things have gone downhill. Certain other sites are just so much easier to use, bug free and people gravitate there. An example is, one simple button that tracks your activity. Makes that site very 'sticky'. The current MSE site design is what I'd term the 'graveyard platform'.5
