£75 spent today on groceries from L!dls, tacked onto a run to the fabric shop for DD2 to buy something to make herself a summer dress from. That should be us stocked up on tinned tomatoes, chick peas & coffee for a while! I do need to run down to the farm shop for some layer's mash & cockatiel food, but otherwise all we should need for the rest of the month is fresh stuff - milk, bread, meat, fish, cheese, fruit & a little bit of veg - the allotment's providing plenty just now.
Good luck with your move, Anzac_Biscuit! And - may you find your cumin soon, Pipney-Jane!Angie - GC April 26 £78.43/£450: 2026 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/66: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6 -

I feel for you @K9sandFelines - it is hard with no offers. A few of us on here do the reverse meal planning thread as well as this one - so we plan or produce our meal from what we already have in, with plenty of substitutions of what we already have for what we might otherwise buy. For example I made a courgette and Lime cake (actually 3) but did not want to buy pistachio kernels or limes so I used some of the broken cashews I bought a big bag of (cheap, because they were broken) and a lemon instead of lime, as I had a lemon.Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £2870.61 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £568.34 and most of my March purchasing made
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the grow your own in 2026 discussion thread

Thanks Suffolk lass. I will take a look at that thread but unfortunately don't always have the time to keep popping on. Even on my days off I forget or end up distracted by other stuff.Suffolk_lass said:I feel for you @K9sandFelines - it is hard with no offers. £20.01 in Aldi, needed a few bits, no corned beef, I usually keep in a tin or so as a versatile stand by, but got a nice piece of beef, cut in 2, piece of pork cut into 3, so quite happy.Do I need it or just want it.6

A whopping £28.16 spent this morning, between the bakers & the supermarket, topping up on general stuff! So I'd better start watching what I'm spending carefully, and planning better. There's a balance to be struck between making fewer visits to the shops/market and making sure we have everything we need to hand, and at the moment I'm failing to find it.Angie - GC April 26 £78.43/£450: 2026 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 10/66: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5

Not much left to last us the remaining 11 days of our grocery month but am really hoping we can come under budget. We are both trying to lose some weight so a lot less will be spent on snacks. We have a lot of chicken in the freezer so we won't need to buy much meat either.
