4th of the month and I'm up to £141.70 already... I ordered some flour, which came to just under £30, then DS1 & his lovely partner announced they were coming for the weekend - their first trip out of locked-down London - so extra supplies were called for! £30 spent at the market yesterday, and another £50 between the butchers & the bakery. Off now to put up the gazebo so that DS2 & his fiancee can visit with DS1, partner & the two DDs in the garden tomorrow... and maybe even us parents when the girls are indoors. This could get very silly...!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7

I have one shop to declare from Wednesday. Definitely had a bout of the “can’t be a....ds”. Ended up in the Co-op, taking advantage of their 2-Pizzas-and-a-4-pack-of-Budgwiser-for-£5 offer. Definitely cheaper bought that way than just buying the pizzas alone (they’re £3.70 each). The pizzas were lovely but a little smaller than I’d hoped - maybe 10 inches in diameter. With a tub of ice cream and a YS packet of fresh cookies, the total shop came to £9.21/£120, leaving £110.75 for the remainder of the month.
The plan, food wise, for the next few days is Hot & Sour Chicken Soup tonight, Faggots tomorrow night, haggis on Monday, with leftovers for lunch each day. If we have enough carrots left, on Tuesday I think I’ll do Carrot & Cashew Nut Roast. Wednesday, I’ll have to bake muffins and pack a picnic for lunch on Thursday - my project team are meeting in a park north of Cambridge, to have a socially distant catch up. It’s bring-your-own food but I’ll take the muffins and a bottle of hand sanitizer to share. (The venue was chosen because it’s equally inconvenient for everyone.)
At some point in the next week, we’re going to have to do a shop. I’ve got quite a list for L!dl, with a smaller one for MrT’s. We might do L!dl tomorrow morning, if DH can face queuing. (He is more impatient than I am.). We’ll walk down there and get our exercise in at the same time.

This week we're mostly eating leftovers to clear the freezer for Musclefood on Thursday.August Grocery Challenge £161.27/£400.008 -
@Finstickle - our shed freezer did not work out for us - it evidently defrosted a bit in the warm weather and our milk spares came out as curds and whey. Only when I was researching a replacement did I notice a garage filter on one site. My new cart lodge (open fronted garage) freezer is guaranteed to -15c air temperature. Worth looking at Beko for garages (although mine is Logik by Currys)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

My shed freezer isn't brilliant either. The stuff does stay frozen but the freezer needs defrosting far more often than normal. In fact I need to do it again! Seems to need doing every couple of months rather than the usual every 6 months my indoor chest freezer used to need doing.
I'm planning on getting a couple of under counter sized ones to replace my chest freezer as they think they'll be more practical! I struggle to find things in there!.7 -

The first spend of July was £11.85 in Adli. I need to draw my horns in if I'm not to exceed the annual budget, so we'll live out of the freezer and cupboards for the next week. We may just need bread and milk.
I made some strawberry jam yesterday but it is a very loose set. I had some on my porridge this morning and it tasted good so I'll have it like that, or with yogurt, or sauce for ice cream. It won't go to waste. I might keep some for steamed jam pud in the winter.🌞
