Morning, feeling quite dozy with my 4:30am start. I am off to brave the shops. Not for food shop as I have enough food to get on with for the week, but need to return some shoes I bought for DD for work online during lockdown which was not suitable and I would quite like my money back. I hope they don’t give me grief.
Plans for the day:- B/L/D from stores
- Clean the living room
- Pack washing away
- Bake biscuits
- Clean kitchen - if I have energy left

Morning folks
Happy solstice to everyone
I'm ok thanks - just couldn't settle my head. I went for a walk and rang mum which took my mind off it a bit. I went to the DIY shop because I thought it would cheer me up but too many idiots not keeping their distance and my mask fogs my glasses up so I couldn't browse. My eyesight is very very bad. I need my glasses to literally function. I'm about -8.5 dioptre. The plus side of being so short sighted is that I can actually tiny things close up see incredibly well - like my own built-in magnifying glass. Excellent for needlework, splinters etc.
Still no sign of anyone looking at the roof! At least it's starting to dry out now that it's stopped raining.
OH is teaching today so I have decided to join a few folks from the gym on a very long, socially distanced walk. It'll be about 20km. OH is going to pick me up afterwards and we'll go to pick up the food shop. The overall cost is coming down now as we're shopping weekly (so not over buying) and I'm restocked on most things that I ran out of in Mar/Apr.
MSE things today:
B/L/D from stores - done
Nice long walk to clear my head - oh dear I am quite sunburned...
Wash towels and ask OH to peg them outside - done
Try not to get too excited in deli shop and buy too many expensive treats
- erm...
Have a good one all

Enjoy your walk CLF
Did mine at 5.30 am (not 20 miles though, more like 2) with OH and mutt.Like the sound of your steak and mushroom pudding / pie Purps - I have lots of suet in the cupboard for some reason, so may think about something similar. Do you bake it or steam it? I always used to steam, but haven't done suet crust for years. Prefer the thought of baking as it isn't such a faff. Must google.Anyway, I have been baking today - a loaf, a(nother) strawberry pie as there were a number of imperfect strawberries due to the weather, a Victoria sandwich cake and some biscuit things with the leftover pastry scraps, made by rolling it out, dotting butter, sprinkling sugar, scattering raisins, folding, rolling and baking. My adult kids will still fight over these, if more than one of them is present when there are some around
I have also done a load of washing, but it looks very grey and unsettled outside. May wait a bit and see what happens before pegging it out.Other things:Reused baking paper previously used when blind baking a quiche shell to line cake tinsMust check banks and update spreadsheetPick some rhubarb - may make it into crumbles and freeze those rather than just freezing the rhubarbLunch will be leftover quicheDinner will be pasta Bolognese (sauce already made, from freezer)And probably not much else - I want to finish my book!Just remembered, Thompson and Morgan have a sale on, all seeds £1 per packet. I decided to restock as I used most of mine this year, or passed them on to family who couldn't get any. Almost all of them were from previous years, so needed using anyway. A good saving, and who knows how easy they will be to get next year??4 -
Hi All am a bit on off as am spending too much time on a screen, walks sounds great. I wen for a ladies dog walk this morning, which was very nice and followed by my first takeout tea for a long time. And we found a very long bench to sit on.
When I came back I made french toast w bread and bagels from freezer that was was left open earlier in the week overnight (murder). Cinnamon raisin bagels are surprisingly yummy for french toast, satisfying for a sweet toth.
I think I can empty and clean one more drawer in the freezer today, and then it's just one more to go.
I did some shopping yesterday, but it's end of the month shopping so just the bare necessities.
I don't feel particularly productive today - I think I will just finish projects I have started in the week:
vacuum downstairs
weed front
check on pots in garden and tidy a bit
empty two more work files messing up my floor and start course files for next year
cook dinner from freezer - more veggie brugers, probably won't buy more for a while now
put up some posters and frame a picture I have meant to frame for over a month, I found the drawings in a book
take a nap
go for an other walk/short run/bike ride late afternoon
And I'm quietly celebrating 7 lb lost since March, my spreadsheet and writing down food intake is working, even if very embarrassing sometimes. Thats 30 % gone of the approx 2 stone I'm trying to shift.
Have a lovely afternoon.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

@carrielovesfanta i hope u get the roof sorted. It is stressful. The contractors who did my wetroom really botched up the job, were not pulled up on it. So far part of the ceiling has had to be replaced, and my brand new decorating with new bit of ceiling shows the wetroom is still leaking with a nice waterstain on the ceiling

@ditty well done with the weightloss and sticking to ur target.
Ive been really been trying to reduce my sugars, they are way too high, esp as im not doing my usual sports to keep them under control.Treated myself to a small individual cheesecake while shopping yesterday thinking it will make a nice treat, bad idea......i felt so sick after. Won't do that again.
- hoping nice weather continues, trying to work my way thru a mountain of washing.
- i am def going to do some more diy today and get a wall painted.
- brought some items down to make up a charity box to send now RM stamps with extra have been sent thru
-DD when cooking food last night filled the oven so have food ready for lunch
-zoom get together later. Will be good to catch up with friends.
-run the hoover around upstairs
-finish my Midsommer Murders episode. Ive started from the beginning. I have to say they were much darker at the beginning than they are now.
Thats about it from me. Have a great day everyone x

Happy Summer Solstice. I watched the sunset at Stonehenge last night and the sunrise again this morning. It was lovely, especially as I have never been to Stonehenge. Yesterday was not as productive as hoped but I did manage to clean the living room which also included moving furniture around. Really pleased with that. I am going to try and stay on top of it so it doesn’t get to the state it had...
So for today:- clean dining room. It’s a bit of a mess as it also serves as my office.
- Pack washing away
- Change bedding
- Roast chicken, veggies and roast pots for supper
- Mini food shop at Aldee
- Drop DD at work

I remember playing amongst the stones at Stonehenge when I was a child. Can't do that now, as they have fenced it off and built a huge, ugly visitor centre with a busy road, lots of coaches etc. Very much more controlled. As a result, we haven't been for years, and are unlikely to go again, even though we live not too far away. I would recommend the standing stones at Avebury instead if anyone wants to visit ancient monuments in Wiltshire. A nice walk around the stones (there are loads), great for children and dogs, no charge, and there is a nice pub (in normal times) nearby, too
Anyway, it was raining a bit when I got up, but I managed to persuade the dog to go for a short walk. Then had home grown strawberries with my cereal for breakfast
Not sure of today's plans.... must think of something for dinner. Meal planning fail, but it will be something we already have. I also need to sort the fridge out a bit, as there are things in there that need using up. Certainly some filo pastry which can become a spinach and feta pie (I can never spell the Greek name) as I have spinach in the freezer, and some yogurt that can become flatbreads. Probably things lurking in the veg drawer that need doing something with as well. Also need to do some cleaning, and pick any veg and fruit that are ready. It is supposed to dry up after this morning's rain, and get hot by the middle of the week. Too wet for gardening today, as we have had a lot of rain over the last week or so, but over the next few days I need to get the rest of the early potatoes in the raised bed dug up (I will still have some in big pots), and the resulting bare patch sowed with carrots and beetroot. I also need to sow more perpetual spinach and chard for greens during the winter, and take some rosemary and lavender cuttings

Thanks for the tip dawn. We have holidayed in that part of the world several times and last time we went we went to Stonehenge on the way home. Little did we know it was a special day (x number of years old I think?!) so the bbc and loads of others were there. As you say now commercialised. We’ll look up that other place when we are next down.Today’s list:
HM pancakes for breakfast with various toppings, fruit, bacon, yogurt that we had in. Feels like the weekend a bit more.Pegged out washing done overnight, another couple to do. Saw a quote yesterday that said something like ‘I’m sure I’m doing washing for people in my house I’ve yet to meet’ which made me laugh as it seem to multiply in our washing baskets 🤣🤣
make suet pastry for steak pudding
finish sorting last bit of room I did yesterday
some more housework, continue using a few cleaning products we unearthed when we emptied our old kitchen to use up.FaceTime family later
walk later
move a furniture unit we are repurposing and sort the stuff to go in it.Drop a bag of gifted items at a pals when on our walk.Have a good day all. Purps.5 -
