Hi @enthusiasticsaver
Thank you for your support and advice
I have always had appliance insurance this is how it breaks down
£16 dishwasher insurance (monthly) we've had the dishwasher repaired 3 times this year and once last year - we cant cancel this because we've claimed on the policy
£25 Washing machine and tumble (monthly) I will check this policy to see if we've claimed
£4.50 fridge freezer - I can cancel this,
Oven £6 we've claimed on this one 3 times, heating issue, element wet and then motor for the fan so can't cancel yet
I will keep a record of the policy end dates as we could put these into an emergency fund, I was brought up with a repair approach and I am an environmentalist so would prefer to fix them than dispose and replace.

We have never had appliance insurance instead we self insure, this is where you put the money that would have been spent on insurance aside to pay for any repairs or replacement.
When our washing machine broke a couple of years back we arranged for somebody to come and repair it.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Thanks @Baileys_Babe in the past its been easier to pay D&G as the money has gone then, otherwise it definitely would have been spent. Its different now so I will review this with D&G today.DMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Hi
I joined a survey site 2 days ago and I've done a couple of surveys with them and have earned £4.41 with one to do today worth between £5-£11.40. That's going back into my EF. I am also hoping to change the bank account that Child benefit gets paid into as instead of just disappearing this will be a £38 payment per week into my EF.
I need to speak to my bank to cancel the SO on my loan payment, which I feel very nervous about - they are my main account but also my loan provider so I need to make sure they aren't taking the usual payment (unless SC sort this?)
I cancelled the Entertainment pass on NowTV but kept the reduced Movies payment.
I am going to phone Very today to cancel my account, i paid that off a few months ago but it's still open and I have a Next account with about £5 credit it in that I can close.
I am just trying now to get all my finances sorted for the 1st July when my DMP starts.I will update my SOA with these as and when they occur

So I have spoken to D&G who cover my appliances and they have paused the payment on my fridge until September at which point my renewal is due, which I will decline, so The fridge is still insured until September (Saving (£4.50 a month)
The washing machine and tumble payment is also paused for 3 months and the policy expires in November so I can use the £25.15 to build up my EF and then cancel the policy after the payment holiday (Saving £25.15 a month)DMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Well done @natlie for dealing with the appliance insurance, just make sure you put the money aside so it is there if you need it.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I agree with Baileys Babe tha5 self insuring is the way to go as long as you remember to put the money aside. You don't need to replace but can get a repairer out if you prefer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
