Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Dec 2 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and
motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning.
Wet cold and miserable out there again today.
But it does not matter. We are off to church this morning and that will be warm and inviting.
Then the kids are having their band practise (guitars, drums and stuff) They were good last time, so that will be good as well.
Then we are having roast back at home, and put all the Christmas decs up. So despite the weather it will be a nice day....
Managed to find a real bargain yesterday. I was in the charity shop when a chap came in and donated 2 high quality 'carry on' suitcases. I asked the shop assistant if they were for sale, and she charged me £5 for the pair.... Just what I needed for my holiday in 2 weeks
Right place and right time....
Well I will be around for a while.... have a nice day...

Sorry to hear it's wet, cold and miserable where you are.
Can't have it all you know. We've had a few showers this morning but been sunny, dry & warm the rest of the day.
Great buy with the suitcases.
Made some green tomato relish this morning. Turned out nice. Also made some more cereal for DH seeing as XDIL isn't here. She was howing into it left, right and centre. I could hear her in the pantry at night.
Just about to go outside and do some weeding.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Might pop back later. ByeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning Befores and Afters
Boy - were there some of you up late last night, won't see some of them yet I am sure! (((hugs))) to you all - friends I have a few (and one with a really good listening ear) - its relations who are thin on the ground! (though sometimes that is a bonus).
Kyle - would consider driving lessons - especially with 3 DS's it could be essential in the future.(Like the time my DS broke his wrist!)
Been awake since 5ish, 5 hours seems to be my max these days - always had this problem when not working - physical work doesn't tire me the same as mental work (probably the search for the brain to switch it on!):rotfl: :rotfl:
Looks like I am off to Aldi shortly as I have completely kn@ckered the desktop pc now. Luckily it is the innards and not the HD so can back to my data - eventually! Think I may have to economise a lot in January!
Need to get the wallpaper off the entrance porch, and then emulsion/paint in there together with skirting/door/frame in kitchen. Tempers will flare as decorators we are NOT!   Anyone want to swop some pc/office/paper work for some decorating? Ah well at least disputes don't last long at our house. Two minutes later one of us makes a coffee and it is over. If we can get the paper off and emulsion in the hall cupboard, and put a shelf and wardrobe rail up, we can clear up the rest from the conservatory. Won't hold my breath for today though.
Chalky - are you still there?? Who did you get for Bband in Spain? Seems a waste as not in either place for a year, but hate being without it - dial up is dire.
((((hugs))) to any one who'd like one - hope you are all feeling better.
Take care DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

morning all
we had a great day yesterday, raised £700 and we got the hall and kitchen free, there were loads of raffle prizes including good whisky, we kept the best bottle for a guess the square nearer xmas so at £1 a square that should be another £100
i bought a lovely book for making sweets with children an usborne one, so will have to have the boys over to do that, the girls i work with got one cheek face painted and i wore my xmas dangly earrings
there was a robin in the hall when we went in and he just wouldnt go out, we just left him as he was getting very scared, no one seemed to mind as he just sat on a curtain rail. he did eventually go when everyone had left
it seems frosty here but supposed to be sun later, will have to clean the house today as i hop to finish my xmas shopping tomorrow
snowyowl i felt some sympathy for you re cards but that all evaporated after i saw you called me kyles doddery old ma

Aussie i will look forward to your next visit must remember to be out that day
stressedoutmum of course you were missed, we like to hear from everyone

kyle you are doing a tremendous job of bringing up your 3 boys, i adore them, look how well ds1 did in America with his diabetes and how you coped with the flights, before you know it the boys will be grown up and it will be your time then, but learning to drive is important now xx

Good morning everyone,
Thanks for the link yesterday catzine, i now have a cute xmas avy!!!!
Snowy -i dont get many xmas cards either, but i often 'borrow' the ones the children get, to put up downstairs, so that it looks like im popular!!!
grannybroon - hope DGS3 took some more of his bottle, and managed a good nights sleep for you.
SOMO1 - i noticed you wernt here, mind you, all the new xmas avys, im getting confused about who is here and who isnt now!!!
twink - glad you had such a good day yesterday - kyle - i didnt learn to drive until i was 28, but it was the best thing i did, so well worth doing if you can!!
Well, a lazy day for us today, although i have already stripped my bed, put the bread machine on and im in the process of bleaching my cloths (and DDs white socks, which wernt looking so white!!!) - does anyone else have little, regular jobs they do around the 1st of the month (i bleach cloths, bleach the drains and normally move the furniture in the front room and hoover under it!!) ive also started doing an empty, high wash in the DW, after that horrible smell i had for weeks in my kitchen, its def a necessity!!! Ive had my chocolate from my advent calendar (prob why ive got so much done) and it was lovely, a galexy caramel!
Im now sitting on here, having a cuppa before i do my clicks, and then i will be cooking roast lamb for dinner. Then this afternoon, we will be having an xmas film and a hot chocolate with marshmallows and squirty cream - def my sort of afternoon!!!
((HUGS)) to anyone who wants/needs one, hope everyone has a lovely day.
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Morning all!
Haven't even thought about what's going on today! Must take 5 minutes and think and plan.........
Anyway all I can think about to say today is that I'm feeling quite proud of myself and my little family - we've all made it so far without EVER putting the central heating on yet! All the things I put in place in October seem to be contributing! The HWB's, the wheat bags, warm bed socks, blankets and throws, the summer duvets under the fitted sheets, the candles (and I have oil lamps) etc etc has made it absolutely fiine. Also I find cooking in the kitchen helps and leaving the oven door ajar afterwards works a treat.
We're also averaging about 7kwh's a day on electricity so the candles / oil lamps are working great too.
It feels good taking control of the utilities instead of letting the utility companies take control of me and my money!
Have a great day everyone!0
