Alfie2020 said:At present am paying 4.494p/kwh and 10.96p standing charge. All the tariffs I can find have a standing charge of at least double this. You clearly haven't done your homework with standing charges: Avro's Simple and SuperFixed (Currently Available) is 14.7p/day in many areas, and even in the Outer Hebrides it's not double what you're paying.0

Sorry I've not heard of CEC (or don't know what it stands for) so perhaps I haven't explored all avenues. Installing gas central heating would not only cost a fortune but would involve considerable work in an old house. My father is 82 and it's simply not something we can consider. I prefer to cook with gas and it as also a good option in cases of power cuts (we do get a few). I've not heard of Avro, it's not come up on anything I have searched on so far so will investigate this. Sorry for repeating my request but was running out of ideas. Electricity due for renewal by end of September too so the search will start again. Electricity is so expensive all round but we only have night storage heaters for heating the house so it is other usage that we have. Hopefully I'll be able to find a decent tariff, will be moving from Octopus as have found them highly inefficient and useless having been transferred to them from Co-op Energy.

CEC is this forums Cheap Energy ClubNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Alfie - I assume that you are the bill payer and lives with you.
You may be better putting the account in his name. He would get a £200 Winter Fuel Payment towards his costs.
If you are selective with his supplier he may also qualify for the Warm Homes Discount of £140

Thank you, I have been following the search orders on this website. Am signed up with CEC (now I know what it is!) and they haven't found anything remotely close. Bill is in my father's name and he does get the winter fuel payment. Doesn't qualify for the Warm Homes Discount. A lot are restrictive on how you can pay as well though that is not the main issue. I don't rely on the figures as I find it doesn't always work that way. I do an actual calculation to compare with current tariff for the year. Dread to think how difficult it will be when it comes to electricity.0

Alfie - thanks for the clarification.
EDIT - delete the rest of this post - just reread your first post .
Another question for you . When you enter your data in the CEC are you using the annual consumption in Kwh ?
