Hi all
I turned 18 last year and opened a phone contract in December as my first line of credit and was accepted! I went to apply for a 2nd phone after paying for the first phone for 6 months on time and was rejected from 2 places!

Checked clear score and my score is 239! I thought it would be higher after I’ve payed on time and there’s only my bank which is just a normal current account and my phone contract showing as open cant be anything else
any advice on how to build my score

You don't need to. It's not a reflection of your credit worthiness or used in lending. You just need to demonstrate sound credit management to lenders.
Don't apply for too much credit in one go. Build some good history, get a credit card in due course and use it sensibly, clearing in full each month. Make sure you are on the ER.
Remember to check the data on your three credit files from time to time to make sure everything is showing properly. Time will do the rest.0 -

Here is a tip! On the 15th of every month, I have check my credit report guesstimate and it is 10% higher than the one I do on the 1st of the month! The only difference is I pay my CC in full on the 3rd of the month!
What dies that tell you.
Oh, and why do you need two phones?0 -
Don't worry about the score/rating, what matters here is your history, you were declined as your history is a little sparse. Maybe try a sim only plan and buy a phone outright. For everyone asking re 2 phones this might explain whyMy opinion, ditch the iPhone 11 idea and either get a cheaper phone or go for a second hand phone, plenty around.0

Right I thought I recognised the username. You get the issue sorted re the pens from eBay ?This thread below I remembered reading, you state you had taken out 2 contracts (wife and daughter), Im confused now as you say you have a wife and daughter, see the anomaly there, you could be 18 and have a wife, a daughter and have a girlfriend, after all its your life, it also explains the need for the second phone.

Seems OP is ...
As well as other things. I do not think it will be long before we see OP back here as a CIFAS marker is put on their name!preables said:Hi all
so I turned 18 last year and got my first contract from Tesco 4-5 months ago which was an iPhone 8 for 19.99 pm! and have payed my bill on time each month.. Now I’m wanting to get another contract out for the iPhone 11 and give my current one to my partner,
would it be best to go with Tesco will they likely accept me a second time or is it best to go elsewhere?
Just to clarify I only have that contract in my credit history as it’s the only thing I’ve applied for so I think my credit score should be good0
