    No just contact PN and they should sort it all .
      Apologies, who is PN?

    PN=Plusnet

    Ah so PlusNet will be able to connect me without having the landline number per se, as long as they know there is one?
    That may be difficult without them knowing number, usual when signing up is put you landline number first, the robots check if they can supply or not then it goes forward
    Without a number you need a human, and humans are in short supply on customer services at present, and a knowledgeable / helpful probably more so
    No harm in asking though

    Correct, I can’t seem to proceed with purchasing from PlusNet, online (over data roaming) without the landline number. Will try and call...

    OP - Have you tried dialing 17070?  If it is a BT line, then it will give you your phone number.
    The issue is I can’t seem to get hold of a physical landline phone to check it, and I’m keen not to buy one just for this purpose. Any other ideas?

    Borrow 1 from a friend.

    I know you said your reluctant to buy a phone just for this but cheapest 1 on Argos is £7.
    Buy 1, test the socket and just put it away, you never know you might need 1.

    I’ve asked however they seem to only have wireless modern land line phones, but I assume they would work also?

    Have you tried speaking to a human. They ought to be able to see on their system who provides the land line - if anyone - and proceed with an order for broadband on that basis.

    Yes, as long as you borrow the base station as well.

    Ok, that should work then, and there is no charge (as nothing is active), a case of just calling my mobile phone and not answering, taking note of the tel#?

    Or just dial 17070, as I mentioned.  This is also free of charge.
