HI Hypno
Just thought i'd say hi on your new diary as i'll be joining you during 2008 on your debt free challenge. I know how it feels to declare your true debt, i've always felt terrible that mine is so much but i have always inculded everything in my total excluding the mortgage. 2007 has been a good year for me as i've finished lower than i started which i haven't done for donkeys years, i'm learning to live within my means and i met my future hubby. 2008 will be a good challenge for us all, including a wedding for me. Roll on 2008 lets go get it!0 -
Morning hypno - how did the kids and OH find skiing at MK the other week? I've got a voucher to go, but haven't got round to using it (and I've got no-one to go with
)

Morning hypno. You surprised me with the new diary and onto the third page already. I can't keep up with you!!
I bet despite the figure increasing it feels good to have "owned up" to everything now. I only added my overdraft in after a year of debt busting. It sems to have made the figures seem ages longer to have gone down but at least at the end I know that is that! (Well, apart from the student loans which I'm not intending to make any extra effort to pay off - my mortgage rate is higher than those loans so would rather pay any extra off the mortgage).
And I can imagine your OH going pale when you told him the figures. i told my OH the full extent of our debt last year when i was in hospital having a miscarriage. I think I thought I could get away with it as I wasn't very well at the time. He looked completely appalled then shrugged and said we'd just have to get on with it. I think at least if you're both working to the same goal then it's stregthening your marriage in a way anyway.
The only thing that does concern me is, you won't be able to afford chocolate?? :eek:0 -
Hi Hypno
Just wanted to say hi on your new diary. Reading your old diary and seeing how much you were getting on with things was one of the things which encouraged me to start the "stop faffing around" challenge.
The debts in my signature are actually only the miscellaneous and credit card stuff; I have a loan which, because I've defaulted on, has had all the interest added on, and my total debt is similar to yours (£60,149.06 to be exact). Well, that's the first time I've admitted that, so you've inspired me again.
All the best.

Hypno, I'm away from MSE for a matter of hours, and you're up to page THREE of a new diary:eek:
Best of luck with your new total, and your new challenges. I'm very glad the pressure has been reduced as regards the ski-ing, I'm sure you'll be able to do more, because that particular deadline isn't crowding you. (if that makes sense?)
Well here's to the new start :beer:0 -
Hi Hypno
I was yet another serial lurker on your old thread.
Like everyone else I'm glad you've put the full total on so when not if you get debt free you will be completely free.:j
Just want to wish you good luck and thanks for the inspiration you give to others:TPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869Numpty,Not sure why but I'm crying. Of all the peeps on this board you're the kindest & most supportive of all & I'm  &

*another lurker*
It's great that the pressure is off slightly for the skiing total! Does this mean that the kids can go on the whole thing now?
If Pigsback gives you points for referring people, do you want to refer me?
Good luck with the new total :beer:0 -
well done you on fessing up to the true extent but big hugs for the gutwrenching feeling it must have evoked! Just take it a day at a time & do your best, thats all you can do BUT you really must make sure you plan in some chill time! Even if just a little bit. You're starting a new job which is stressful in itself, never mind the environment you'll be working in! PLEASE look after yourself in amongst the debt busting! Back from my trip out - tired and pleased to be home because we can close the curtains, put the heating on and do nothing for the rest of the evening!!
Hi to everyone who has posted today, especially to those who usually just lurk! Come on out and post!! We won't bite.......well, not much anyway!!
Alexnikov - I have sent you a PM re pigsback.
Polly - it was your stop faffing around thread that prompted me to do just that and to put the proper figures down. It was something I had thought about for a while - I have not been entirely happy that my signature didn't tell the whole story, but now it does, so I can get cracking with it!! So thank you for the stop faffing bit!!
The children will be able to go on the bulk of the skiing, for sure - they may get to do the final bit, but if not, well they will have done a whole lot more than they would have done otherwise! We shall see, but things are obviously a whole lot more certain than they were, and of course, the sums are easier because I am just paying off now, rather than paying off some, deferring some, and saving some, which was getting a tad confusing!
I have to say though, that I have failed miserably in the housework challenge.....the downstairs looks like the proverbial bomb has hit it. In my defence though, my bedroom and en-suite are still clean and tidy, so I have achieved something in this challenge!
I have a clearer week ahead of me, so am aiming for a "get on top of stuff" week - catching up on housework and paperwork that has been shoved to one side over the last couple of weeks.
Of course, if the start date for the new job comes through, then I will happily go with that, but in the absence of any news on that front, I will use the time to get organised.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Didn't you say you were doing this for Christmas? You haven't failed yet then as you've got another 23 days!0
