Sounds like a top plan to me and will save you money as you won't need to get a cleaner in

well, this is what I am hoping - it will cost me about £25 a week to get a cleaner in, so by paying the children to help me, I get to save a bit, and they get to make a bit. Everyone a winner........except any potential cleaner!

I have also cleared out a shelf in a cupboard in the kitchen..........couldn't face doing the whole cupboard, but it's a start!

The client money didn't get as far as the bank - I got some groceries and petrol and paid cash. None of it was silly stuff, so I suppose that is what the money is for really at the moment - in an ideal world I would be putting it in my new ISA to save for house improvements, but with funds so tight this month, if it is needed for basics instead, then I will just have to put up with it!

Lysa - def ask for a rebate on your board money! Mind you, I would have been too scared to ask my Mum for anything back when I was living at home.........

  • My mum used to have a system, which confused me, if i asked for money i would end up owing her loads, do jobs and still end up skint LOL.
If my teenagers try anything with me regarding not doing jobs..i just mention the magic four letter word
    RENT!
works wonders and gets all the work done..tea tonight..hehehe

Just teaching them valuable life lessons that they will surely thank us for in years to come :D

My two are also cooking dinner - they are doing sausages, cheesy pasta and spring greens for themselves.

I will cook for me and the lodger later on, OH is at work so he doesn't need me to do anything foodwise for him. I am still on my low carb diet so will be doing steak (reduced in the supermarket today) and veggies......yum yum :D

  • My feeling exactly. They can cook, clean, iron and also budget..not a bad start in life. The eldest one is getting there as well, since she got married has learned a bit the hard way, but hopefully will stand her in good stead.

Hello! Well, my DS is a very lucky boy - this afternoon I posted that he is going to save up for an ipod shuffle and then Pania just came round and offered him her old shuffle..........

DS is now saving up for a phone.............there is always something when you are 12

Thanks P, you are a star. If you had a lawn, I would send DS round to mow it for you!!

Yes, he is very lucky - initially I don't think he realised just how lucky......but I have since beaten him into grateful recognition!!
