I'm not too bad, thanks everyone! I simply don't have time for a cold.

Se999 we are staying at an Etap - bargain basement of all hotels!! I will be packing up loads of food so that hopefully we can avoid eating at restaurants along the way........trying to do this trip as economically as possible, because on top of everything else, the Euro is very strong and that makes everything that much more expensive for us.

Don't pack too much food - on my recent trip I thought the French food was cheaper than at home. Where are you going?

We are going to Courchevel and Meribel - quite expensive places. I generally take loads of pasta and then buy lovely cheese cheese and meats over there and make pasta dishes......and of course bread, jam and croissants will be our staple!!!

I think I am more concerned, though, at the cost of eating en route.....we will be travelling for over 24 hours in total, as I am breaking the journey up with 2 overnight stays, so don't want to get stung for food on the way. I have paid €5 each for breakfast on Saturday morning, so will aim to be taking pack ups for the rest of the journey.

I am starting to get excited. Might go and start finding my kit soon :D

Just made £10 on a paddy power thing, so that helps!

  • Hi Hypno your trip sounds exciting and so well deserved I must say...but 24 hours travelling  Although I do say that the travelling is part of my holiday that is a long time... Would it not be possible to get flights for a reasonable amount considering you have to pay for petrol, hotels food etc? Although I am probably saying this to the wrong person I know you look into the ins and outs of everything :p
