    hiya

you've got all that money outstanding and hanging fire, haven't you - I hope it goes well over these few weeks, tho they're saying on the BBC that it could be months, or years if the banks appeal if it goes against them.

Houses.... round here, one person has converted their garage - its not simple because the hills are so steep the garages are *underneath* the houses, and has also dug out the space at the side of the garage/behind the front garden, but it must cost thousands and thousands of pounds to do that. Gives a lot of space tho.

Most people round here go into their lofts - there's only one living room and a small kitchen here, and for a modern family thats really not enough. Its plenty for me tho.... I understand the dream of having enough space - while I was training, in my previous 3 bed house, I had four lodgers, one of whom used to have her boyfriend there about 4 days a week.... it was a bit crowded!

Good luck for you and all concerned on the bank charges.

Oh your all making me feel even more wretched> Being Bankrupt means I cant get a mortgage, so I cant get out of this council flat, it seems.! Talking about children being old enough to move out, look what happened to me!! All but one are back!!!!
When I was younger my parents were in RAF, we moved something like23 times before I was 16. Since I got my first place in 1981, I ahve moved 14 times now. And now I have got to find a bigger place if its possible.!! Or it will be my grave me thinks!!!

  • I loathe moving & will stay here as long as I can!! Its been quite god on teh DFW front as decluttering has been liberating! Moving is so much effort & as I've managed fine for 7 years will manage at least another 5 - barring knight in shining armor arriving but that doesent seem that likely!

Yes, I am being selfish. I have no "need" to move. We have a house with plenty of space (or there would be if I ever kept it tidy!) that many on here would give their eye teeth for, but I have always said it is not our forever house, and that thought has not gone away, no matter how much debt we are in.

So, one day we will move, and I know that realistically it will not be for a few years yet. But for me it is one of the biggest incentives to get debt free - I can't move until I am because otherwise it is all of my equity eaten up!

So bear with me, humour me, and encourage me......for it is truly what stops me from ringing CCCS and going on a DMP, trashing my credit rating forever and preventing me from ever moving again!!

Sorry, though, truly if I am rubbing anyone else's nose in it. Mooloo inparticular, you have all my apologies, for what must have come across as a pretty insensitive post xxx

Anyway, today I have had a good day, really. I don't expect to hear about bank charges for yonks really, and I don't now bank on any of the money coming through, although there was a time when I did include them in my expected incomings! If it happens it happens - a bonus if and when.....

Dont worry, its not insensitive really, I am well aware that its not anything against my position. I would love not to have to move, or want to move. When I got this flat I didnt think it was forever but I did think it was for a good few years, at least until DS grew up. Just didnt expect to have everyone come home!! I know, I am an unusual case!!!

Good luck all with the bank charges - would be brilliant if you could get a big windfall from it!

Morning all. Today is my "long" day - straight to college from work, so the aim DFW-wise is to have lunch in the Mess without spending too much, and to try and resist the college cafe when I arrive there.

I hope you all have a good, if blustery and wet, day.

    xx

Dont fancy the weather out there! My son has borrowed my bike to go to school. (its 7 miles away).
I have the physio this morning, think i may be totally unMSE and book a taxi, as I need to be gone in 20 minutes if I have to catch 2 buses, and my bones just are not working this morning. 2nd cup of tea, maybe that will help me.
Good luck with resisting the canteen at college.
I have decided to try and use up the storecupboard stuff, so its going to be a bit of a hotch potch, with mostly pasta!! this week for us. Wonder if the girls may decided to cook if I give them boring meals for a change??
