My OH has had to install Firefox.

That would have been my first port of call... Even before IE broke ;). There's also a proggy called IEFix which sometimes works.

Good afternoon! Hi GTD, where HAVE you been!!!

Lunch was nice - I was sensible, having the fish option and lots of lovely veggies and no roast potatoes but I did have a pudding :o Caramel meringue thing - yumyum, and very diet friendly......of course!

Then popped to asda on the way home to get some milk and managed to get some bargain boots for £10, OH got a pair of shoes for £6 and a pair of walking shoes suitable for the snow for £7 - not a bad little excursion!!

Verbatim - I jolly well hope I get paid at the end of the month. I did mention it in passing last week and no one said otherwise, so I hope they were not just wondering how to tell me not to get my hopes up!!

  • Re the wages I did not get paid the first month but that was because I had missed the cut off date for the wage department. I work for the public sector so they have strict deadlines due to amount of satff etc. It also will depend how they pay as some pay 2 weeks in advance or arrears etc all very confusing but it may be worth having a chat to payroll tomorrow just so you know where you stand and also if you will be getting a 'full' wage even if you do get paid?
Do you know the date they pay each month?

They pay on the last working day of the month, and I started on the 7th so I am hoping to get 3 weeks worth of dosh on 31st Jan. I will def take it up with payroll anyway, just so that I can [STRIKE]panic[/STRIKE] be prepared for the February bills if needed!

Isn't it great to have that strikeout key? I hope you do get paid at the end of Jan, that would be terrible to have to wait till end Feb - especially as therapists, we get paid practically at the end of each hour!

Just thinking about you not being able to say anything about the job, hypno - just to satisfy our helpless nosiness, what's your journey like? How long does it take, do you face any traffic logjams, or can you breeze by open fields and sing happy songs? (wish the smilies still worked, I bet I could find a good one for that!)

Well, I work 30 miles away from home, so a good run each day. The journey is entirely cross country, so is very peaceful. I go against the hoards of workers going into the city, so don't sit in traffic jams, but of course the risk of sitting behind a tractor is quite high!! It takes me less time, interestingly (or not!), than it did to get to the uni, yet I travel three times the distance!

When it is foggy it's not so great, but the scenery is pretty good around this part of the world so a nice drive. Going home, it is just the right length of journey to "switch off work mode" before getting home. Perfect.

The people are nice - I have discovered one is a definite MSE lurker, if not a poster, but don't know any ID, so must be careful what I say!! My only gripe is that we all take our own jars of coffee, and my coffee seems to reduce at a great rate of knots. I know I drink a lot of coffee, but I know how long a jar lasts me, generally!!

I will therefore be taking my coffee in a flask each day. I can't afford to "lose" coffee at this rate every week, but equally I don't feel I can put a lable on saying "hands off" if everyone else leaves theirs on a "trust" basis! Difficult one.

And of course there is a free gym - very DFW!! I will be using that a couple of times a week at least.

  • Wow that was quick work finding out that there is a MSEer there within a week ;) how did you manage that or is there just that many of us these days?

I must admit to not really mentioning to people I come on here because Ifeel most people wouldn't understand the forum/posting part  or is that just me?

Anyway back to work do you have to work long days?
