Glad you had a good day at the new job, hope today is as productive.
Council say there is no hope of us getting a 4 bedroom house, and that we would need to look to the private sector. But my bankrupcy goes against me there! This is not the start to the new year that I needed. I also have slipped off the budget buy buying some wine off of Virgin Wines, and a visit to the Pound shops in Northampton meant I spent a bit more! Followed by a visit today to Oxford Primark, Opps another £30.!! But I will be good again tomorrow. I am not going anywhere. I am also thinking of putting an advert up locally to take some sewing in. Just the odd bits, see how my arm copes with it.? Visited my job today, they are missing me, didnt realise that apart from one week, I havent been to work for 4 months!! But just tidying the shop floor for about 15 minutes was too much for me. So the pysiotherapist is right, I am not going to be able to return to my job. Need to rethink my training then!!!
Ah well tomorrow is another day.
How are the kids doing skiing? Hope alls well.
Now I better go and get the dinner sorted out. :o

Hi Hypno, glad your first day went well. It's even more interesting reading your diary now AND I'm still managing to keep up! I'm getting very excited about the £1981 total and can't wait for it to hit the £2000 mark. Will keep watching from the wings.

Hiya! Absolutely shattered, eyes closing, but just thought I'd pop in and see if your first day had gone well - haven't read back far enough but sounds as though it was promising, and glad you finally conquered that essay!

    Cheers for now!

Hi Hypno, hope Day 2 went well.

Mooloo, what a disappointing response from the Housing people. WHY is there no hope? And is there any other way round it? Could they connect two two-bed flats for example? Hope 2008 picks up for you.

Helloo!! Just home and very tired! A good day though, and handed in the assignment at college so that is done and dusted too.

Mooloo, that is a shame about the housing situation - what are they able to offer you instead, if you cannot rent privately. If you had benefits paid directly to a landlord, would that get round the problem?

Miss Bez - I don't think my debt total will go down this month - the costs of this last week, getting the car fixed and the kids to France have put paid to that!

Well you would have thought that it would be easy. But most of the estate agents will not even show me a house, because of the bankruptcy. Also if i go into the private sector i loose my assured tenancy. so every 6 or 12 months I may loose the place I got to live in in the first   place! Re getting two flats, that was also suggested? I have asked, we did ask when the flat below came vacant, but they gave it to somebody else, (mum lives a few doors away, shes hardly ever there, now she has a yappee dog too!) But they said to us that they will not do that, i.e. favour family for the nearer properties? Looks like I need a miracle to alter my 2 bed flat into a space saving, multifunctional abode? 60 minute makeover any good???  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Mooloo have I read that your daughters have some learning difficulties? Sorry if I have got this wrong and I am not prying I was just wondering if maybe there is something specific they have been diagnosed with and if there are any associated charities that you could get a grant from?

After today's encounter with the local social workers Mooloo I wish you luck. I hope yours aren't as gormless as the ones around here
I'm going to shamlessly hijack as I need to vent.
Last week my neighbour had 2 people knock of her door looking for Mr and Mrs "Smith". She told these official looking people with a clipboard that she'd lived there over a year and the previous people weren't Smith either. They went away but today she got a letter (which she opened without looking) addressed to Mr & Mrs Smith with a letter and enclosing a copy of a social worker's report following a home visit regarding a report that their 8 year old had been behaving sexually inappropriately at school. It was clear that they were the clipboard people so had obviously found the correct address (date was the same) but never bothered to correct the address and so it got sent to the wrong address. My neighbour brought the letter to me asking what on earth she should do. I raised merry hell with social services about confidentiality and pointed out that they could have had a lynch mob on their hands. It was made worse by the fact the father is a public figure religously in the community. They say they can't understand why the address wasn't changed and got to listen to my big lecture about confidentiality and responsibility both on the phone and again when a senior social worker rushed around to collect the letter.
Honestly where do they FIND these people ????
(Apologies about the hijack but REALLY needed to vent and obviously can't vent around here and didn't really want to put it on an open thread for all and sundry)
