Afternoon Hypno and all...perhaps last night was the night of no sleep..I too couldn't sleep and when the alarm went off I went back to sleep but really tired today...must try to stay awake so that I can sleep properly tonight..
Glad to see you are relieved of the major pressure regarding ski fund...and that you are managing to get your housework done..all a good start for when you start your new job..
  • Well done Hypno, i started reading your post and will be as intrigued with this one as well as the last. I showed hubby your post last night in another attempt to get him into sorting himself out and mentioned all the support everyone gives each other. I think he's finally coming around to the fact about being more pro active rather than reactive- i do nag him a lot though!! I feel that your really brave and wish i could wave a magic wand and get rid of it for you. so sending xmas wishes your way instead. I hope the kids are suitably impressed with everything you are doing and have done for them, i think you are laying great foundations for the future and that hopefully they will know that everything can be theirs if they work hard and save for it. best of luck for the next year.

I guess you have considered putting all into your mortgage? A fleible mortgage / one without penalties would allow you to repay the debt on the increased borrowing by overpayments. That way you might get a much more managble total interest payment, but of course you is in theory at greater risk and the interest is more if you repay the increased borrowings much more slowly (longer term).

    Hi Hyno, Snaggles and Taxi
Keep mentioning fly lady! Why because every time you do I get guilty and go and do some house work. My surfaces are nearly clear enough (of washing up), to actually properly clean them (ie move things out of the way etc) :D

Hi all! Busy clicking away on surveys etc, and whats more have even got OH clicking away on his laptop too!! Fantastic, just hope it continues!

The house looks a tiny bit tidier, will do more flylady tomorrow.

Yes, the children do appreciate it, every penny. They are great kids and help out where they can, and never complain that they don't have what other children do.

Conrad, if I could extend my mortgage I would do so in a flash. Sadly, we have been unable to do this with our existing lender, and as we are on a 10 year fab fixed rate, to move would incur huge penalty fees and likely be on a higher APR. I used to be an IFA so have always been pretty clued up on mortgages, but sadly we are in a bit of a trap at the mo. Partly because I am self employed but not with 3 years accounts. Hopefully things will change when I am employed full time again.

I have taken sleeping pills tonight.....so desperate am I to have a good nights sleep! They should kick in by the time Dragon's Den finishes!!

I hope you are all having a good evening!

    Hi Hypno!

I can't get onto the computer for two days and you have started a new diary AND you are 6 pages in!

Well done on really taking the plunge and here's hoping for a quick resolution for you (the way you and your family can get money together I see no problems at all! - oh I do hope your kids are still going to be fund raising for the skiing!)
