Sorry not awfully tactful burbling on about my trip whilst you're in mourning for a ski fix (I used to ski twice a season pre-DS so I understand the addiction
)
I know the only way to keep myself on the straight and narrow is to make the commitment public so you lot will bop me around the head when I slip ! I'm doing the maddest trip in january to make this affordable-flying to Boston for ONE day on a super cheap fare (£200) gives me enough miles that one of our air tickets will be free-so spending £200 to save £650 (the trip doesn't give me all the miles but added to the ones I already have will do). Basically I fly London to Chicago on Saturday morning -meet a friend for 5 hours then on to Boston-6 hours in a cheap hotel then back on a plane at 6am to fly to New York and on to London-getting back Sunday evening-utterly nuts except in an MSE way LOLI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Oh Duchy, it is no problem talking about your trip!! I WILL be getting my ski fix - 2 weeks in meribel at the end of the season to coincide with the last two weeks of the children's ski-fest! I will get to watch their last batch of races and then load up the car with all their stuff and bring them home again. I have managed to book a shoe box apartment. Not quite topping and tailing the children, but not far off! but at least it means I get my buzz!! It actually worked out just as cheap for me to go out for those last two weeks and have the children with me, as it did for them to board with BSA for those two weeks with me at home :j But OH will not be coming with me, because we can't afford the extra lift pass and the extra vin chauds but he is not a ski bum like me so he will cope without it!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh I know....but £450 saving ! I intend to stock up with charity shop paperbacks, load a stratagy game onto the laptop, watch inflight movies and treat it like a weekend off admittedly in a seat less comfy than my sofa for all but one flight (I have a free first class upgrade from Chicago to Boston but by then I'll be so tired I suspect I'll just sleep that leg.)
Anyway as the only regular on this thread who has actually MET me benben you know I'm nuts !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

El, glad that things financially are looking good for you for 2008! I hope you are not going to desert us now that you are a MFW - we love having you here!
Duchy, that is a fab plan. I would love to go first class, even if it was only to sleep!! Enjoy x
benben - you should know by now that BIZARRE is what us DFWs do best!! If it isn't bizarre, then something has to be wrong, somewhere
My two have just been invited to a friends for lunch, so that saves me two meals today :j also gives me a bit of free time to continue ridding the house of chocolat and cakeSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi Hypno, I really hope that 2008 will be your year - and I am sure it will be.
Let's hope the admin hiccups are over soon and you can start work in the prison. You did so well in 2007 despite all the obstacles, so once you are pulling in a full time salary, that debt won't know what hit it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
