I expect there will be some sort of party thread going on here for us lot that are either too skint or too shattered to go out to a "real" party!!

I have spent the last half hour number crunching, trying to get budgets to look realistic when compared with pay coming in.........more number crunching and thought required during the course of the morning though, and if nothing else it is highlighting the need to do the daily clicks and the £10 a day challenge, free Christmas challenge etc!!

I am absolutely determined to go into 2008 in control of my finances. I want to get through without panic about where/how we are going to pay for things, to not have nights where I wake up worrying about the fact that something needs to be done/paid and I haven't done it or got the money to do it etc etc.

So, today will be spent putting the plans into place in order that I can wake up tomorrow firmly in control. 2008 will be my year, I am NOT going to have it any other way :D

    Happy new year :j

Hypno you sound like you are definately in the right frame of mind for taking full control of your debts/finances.:D

I feel much the same I spent 2007 playing at my money but now I feel in the right place to take control and get rid of my debts.

2008 WILL be the year I turn things round.

Hi hypno, that sounds v determined, v powerful, I like it. I'm just about to update my figures on where my money is, right down to points for vouchers etc. In the words of Captain Oates, "I may be gone some time...."

    In a word.........nope

Hoping it is sooner rather than later otherwise I will be feeling slightly less positive before too much longer, and that just will not do!

I'm sure it will be your year, hypno:beer: . And all your diary-visitors' years too, thanks to your wonderful example:T

Will you have any chill-out time between the children going, your student coming back and the start of your new job? Sounds like it would be a real tonic for you before the 2008 onslaught really kicks in.

I'm not sure about chill out time, Imp, I am behind with college work and have a mountain of work I really want to do in the next week or so. The student will be home at the weekend, so not really time to myself, but if I can at least use the time productively, then it will take away some stress I think which can only be a good thing.

I am also awaiting my pay for the work I have done at the uni this month, plus the invigilating I did at the end of last month, and some other bits and pieces - these will all get chased up next week if they have not arrived by the weekend.

Plus, I really need to do some matched betting - one way of getting through the £10 a day challenge I reckon and a way of getting much needed extra income in!!

I am not expecting to make anything other than my minimum payments in January, and thank goodness that we have a mortgage holiday for Jan and Feb, otherwise things would be far more stressful than they currently feel.

It is finely balanced though, and I am aware that we have two trips to France to do in January for the kids, and a car that needs repair, so I cannot afford in any way to take my eye off the ball.

chill out time.....what's that anyway :rotfl:
