Once i have rebooked i am to let the insurance company know of the new dates, and the policy will stand for the new booking.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Once i have rebooked i am to let the insurance company know of the new dates, and the policy will stand for the new booking.
They came back with some dubious advice, in that i would be if the company is ATOL protected.
Here's part of the transcript - (handy to keep as proof of advice given)
Them: Good Afternoon, thank you for holding. If e-bookers have offered you that but went bust, you need to check if their ATOL protected, as they will refund the money you paid out
Them: Once you have new dates in place we can amend the policy unless you have new dates now?
Me: would i be atol protected just for a hotel booking though, as i purchased the flights elsewhere.
Me: Even though they have offered the voucher, can i refuse and claim through my policy?
Me: Also if i accepted the voucher, once a new booking is made, can this policy i purchased be transferred to the new dates without any extra fees?
Them: You'll need to check if they're ATOL protected. If you refuse their offer you can't then claim on the insurance. You'd only claim if they didn't offer any at all0 -

The insurance company made it clear that as an offer for the full amount had been accepted that a claim with them would fail.
I'm ok with it to be honest, not only did the voucher expire in 13 months, rather than 12, so I can go the same dates next year. But also on my original booking i used a 15% discount code, knocking £120 off the price, yet the voucher issued is for the full, pre-code price.
Looking at the prices for next year there is only a £12 difference currently, but i'm waiting for flights to be released before rebooking.0 -
I've just tried to cancel a "refundable" hotel booking which was made with a part-payment with an Expedia voucher issued when the original trip was cancelled in July. They are saying that the voucher part of the payment is non-refundable.0

The other option is to go through my travel insurance as I have cover for cancelling trips to countries where the FCO advise against non-essential travel.0 -

So, I put in an insurance claim and they rejected it on the basis that I knew of the pandemic when I used the voucher. I appealed as the FCO were still allowing travel when I made the second booking but they rejected that too. Tried going through my credit card company but they aren't interested either.
In the end the difference between the voucher value and my insurance excess is around £200 so it looks like I'm going to have to write it off.

I asked as i used an Ebookers hotel re-book voucher for a holiday this June.
The voucher had an expiry of 12 months with the new booking commencing within 12 months of the old booking.
I guess this is the same voucher you were issued with, that had to be used at the same hotel of the original booking?
I wonder what will happen if we're unable to travel for the new booking.... i'm hoping they will issue another voucher, as we would have been in catch-22.... 12 month expiry on the voucher, only to be used at the hotel we originally booked, that hasn't been open since the voucher was issued.0
