Thanks for all the replies, we've now amended our booking to go to a different hotel in 2021. A difficult decision with so many variables to take into account and of course not knowing what terms TUI will offer next month. We may well have got a 20% discount by waiting but it's impossible to know.

If it helps your thought process, we did the same. Same hotel, just changed the 2020 date to 2021.

We  are also booked and paid with Tui for 15th august to Majorca..
If the FCO lift the no fly and this 14 day nonsense is done away with, we are happy to go..
Tui are now allowing amendments for hols up til end of Aug, so we are going to wait it out until end of July ish, see what state the world is in by then, and then make a decision on amending for next year, or going!!

I re-organised a TUI holiday due to take place in July for 2021. It may be it is cancelled but if it did go ahead I would have the same reservations expressed above about the likely experience and 14 days quarantine on return is not all that appealing either. It may be I could do better playing chicken and waiting but I'd rather hope for better things next year.
We have holiday booked with Tui. Package deal to Menorca. Due to fly on July 1st. It has not been cancelled but we are getting so near and we don't want to go as we don't feel safe.
Ideally we would like a refund but would accept another holiday next year if we have to.
I find the instructions very complicated.
We didn't get insurance when we booked in January as I had a hospital appointment booked and wanted to find the outcome of that before getting insurance.
The pandemic kicked off and we didn't get insurance as we thought the holiday would be cancelled. Insurance for me and my partner is loaded due to pre existing medical conditions.
We have hung on as now we find that most companies will not cover the virus.
Every time I go into My Booking page it tells me to click a link. I click it then it directs me to another link which brings me back to the first one.
can anyone give me an idea what we should do?

We are due to go on a 2 week TUI holiday at the end of August. Ideally we'd hold out until TUI cancel the holiday and give us a credit and the 20% off future bookings which TUI are currently giving for cancelled holidays (especially as prices have gone up so much). We can amend our booking now (and up to the end of June) free of charge but of course would miss out on the 20% off.
The danger with waiting for cancellation by TUI is that they might insist we go ahead with the holiday, which we don't really fancy doing as there are likely to be social distancing measures which mean the holiday would not be so enjoyable.
It's a real dilemma and I wondered what others with TUI holidays booked for August were doing ?
This is very much like our situation.
Due to fly package holiday to Menorca 1st July 2020.
I am told it is to go ahead and I am so scared of catching the virus and not having insurance that covers it.
Surely 1st July will not be safe to travel.

    Keep on trucking!
  • My holiday to Florida is 18th July 20, Tui have agreed to transfer my holiday to 2021 for free. Having spent 2 hours on the phone and being told i need to pay an extra 400+ to pay for seat selection again and pay for luggage upgrade again. I do not understand as i have already purchased this, so overall for the same flight i would have paid twice to pick the seats £197 pound twice and £200+  for luggage upgrade again already paid for.  SO TUI your not transfering my holiday for free you giving me a new holiday and charging me twice. Do i wait for it to be cancelled or bite the bullet and pay the extra charges?

I'm not sure but the extras like luggage and seat  might be  charged differently and might be refunded differently.
So it's possible that you move your holiday to 2021 and pay the extras again,  but are refunded for the extras you paid for 2020.
Hopefully someone might know the rules  or have had this happen to them.

    If this is true https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52882177

Then you won't be going on 1st July.

I have since spoken to TUI AGAIN and they can not give me a clear answer as to why i need to pay for my luggage again as additional to the original cost and paying to select seats on a place again, so my flight next year is cheaper then this year but it's made more expensive due to having to pay to select my seats again £197 and it's £70 Per person to take 20Kg Luggage which first time round i was taken 25Kg, so i can transfer the amount i have already paid £5266, which included return flights, Baggage upgrade and select your seat, to 2021  where i would need to pay another £196 to select the seats and £420 pound for the 6 of us to take 20Kg baggage as for some reason TUI flights only allow you to take 10 Kg hand luggage and you need to pay for additional luggage. Different prices every time i ring up. They said they will not refund the select your seats and baggage upgrade from 2020 and the total paid is what i can transfer to 2021 without occurring the 100% transfer fee which i would pay if they did not offer this incentive.

It doesn't make sense to me, my view is everything should be transferred, but if TUI are sticking to the view their view, I can't see much you can do about it.
If your holiday is cancelled, then you will get a full refund of everything, so I'm surprised TUI doesn't want to just keep your money.
