HI popping in to offer my moral support, you seem to have so much on your plate and it's ok for it not to be perfect it's too much. I Just wondering because I don't know but is there any financial help you can get whilst your other half can't work?
Agree with WK can the kids get on with a bit of work themselves so you can do something else, let them explore and be creative.
Easy to say all these things and I can't imagine how difficult it is for families trying to work and look after young children, my kids are older and just need a bit of help and prompting and work are really adaptive to hours worked.
Make sure you factor in some 'me' time every day.
Sending hugs, H x1 -
Thank you @Babybelles @WelshKitty and lovely to see you @hugglemonster.
great advice as always. I wish the homeschooling was that easy. Between the children they have 6 zoom meetings a day, of which the teacher explains the work and then they are to get on with it and produce it finished when they next meet. I literally had to sit next to May and go through every question of her maths. And then Roo came through and his maths I didn’t even understand, and had to go through each and every question. It really is full on.As for financial help. I will check if we are entitled whilst off sick. Possibly SSP. But not sure how that works whilst self employed.Have 15 minutes before school work commences again. Really need to program for work tonight too. 🙄2 -
I know teachers are under a lot of pressure right now and not used to teaching this way but, if the children are needing that much support, I would be questioning how it has been explained/taught to them. I would definitely raise a concern with the school.2

I feel you missymoo. I have two being homeschooled. My eldest is fine working on their own but my youngest needs a bit of supervision & to be prompted to sign into the lessons on time. It must be such hard work if you have very young children & are trying to work too. A few of my friends are taking shifts with the kids but it’s not possible for everyone to have that flexibility.1

Just want to offer some support and a hug! I know things are tough but you will get through this. I don't have kids but my OH is a teacher, he just keeps saying to parents don't worry about learning, do the best you can but the kids will easily catch up when they get back to school. As long as they are feeling loved and secure, the education side can be caught up on so don't stress about that. Have a word with their teachers so they are aware but the school will support you xCurrent mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!

I hope you get some support from the school. It's so hard trying to juggle everything."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

Speaking as a teacher- if everything is too hectic right now for zoom classes then the best thing they can be doing is reading. Younger kids; reading fiction or the very simple "how does the sun move across the sky" style kid encyclopaedias. Older kids could be reading revision guides/bitesize books or equally fiction. (Reading is literally the best)
If they need a break from reading whack on a documentary- if you can't find something related to their school work then things like Planet Earth are amazing for improving general knowledge.
Talk to the school- at mine we're bending over backwards to accommodate different household set ups. I spent most of Tuesday printing off physical work for a few kids whose access to technology isn't good enough to support the online learning i'd initially set. Yesterday I posted out a student history workbook to one of the kids as I know she'll find that easier to process and workthrough than a bunch of worksheets.Bottom line;

Hey everyone. Thank you so much for your concern, positive vibes and advice. The children are 7&9 so young, which is half the problem. May is struggling to deal with lock down and is very tearful and literally just wants to hold on to me all day, and she’s one of the younger ones in her class so does struggle. Roo is super intelligent but gets upset if he can’t do something and really beats himself up about it. I will definitely try some of the tips and ideas you have all been kind enough to give.I have had a bit of a turn up for the books. The school have been wonderful and have offered the children a place at school monday-Wednesday for the next 2 weeks. Since then ex has said he’s been given key worker status too which I have informed the school of. So feeling more able to cope with things.Currently at the hospital waiting for OH to come out of his surgery. He’s only just gone in so will be a while. Gives me time to just sit for a change. Sister in law has the children. Waiting room is freezing unfortunately and my toes are very numb which isn’t great 😢. Have treated myself to a tiny bottle of wine for this evening as OH will just simply sleep for the rest of today and we’re stuck in a hotel room. So wine and tv for me!Thank you so much again for all of your help and kindness!5

Ah thanks @Babybelles still waiting, fingers crossed he’s managing to be brave.
I meant to say it’s lovely to meet you @Flora90 thanks so much for popping in. I really do appreciate the support.So so far today it’s been a NSD. Not sure if I’ll end up spending later on food etc, but hopefully not. Need to go shopping when I get home tomorrow as we have no food in at all, no milk or bread or cheese or cereal or dinners. Pretty poor show. So shopping sat/sun it is.3
