Hi @rugbymadfamily thanks so much for popping along and posting. I have earned way more than any other years (most has gone into the house deposit jar). The tax payment is so high because if your tax due is over £1k you end up paying some of the following years in advance, so I won’t have a hefty bill next year. It’s all worked out with calculations etc. It is still eye watering.
I’ve done lots of research into courses today and I’m so pleased I did! One company wanted £5k for 2 courses, another wanted £949 and wasn’t a great course and the guy ended up just trying to sell me the course there and then and was rather put out that I wasn’t sure the course was actually right for me. Managed to speak to another course provider and they were amazing! So, so helpful! And the course is £740! Of which the business will pay £200. So although I can’t really afford it. I really need to do it as it will definitely generate more income in the long run. There’s also 2 other courses I’d like/need to do. They can combine them for me and I can do them online which will really help me to have as it’s another string to my bow etc. But that’s £650. Money which I just don’t have right now 😢. Going to look at ways to generate some more cash by selling stuff etc. I have put feelers out to do children’s online classes and I will hopefully make some money doing that too. And hopefully get more people joining in from the children’s school too. So will start that next week hopefully.
And I think you’re both right @Kakiste and @rugbymadfamily sell things cheap and get rid I think is the key!

Hey @jwil , thanks for the faith in me. Like most people on here, we all manage, even when the chips are down, we always get through, even if just by the skin of our teeth!
Didn’t get to the post office was raining so going to go tomorrow.
Going to spend the evening sorting things in my head for going forward,  and chilling as got to get up at 6!

  • That's great to have earnt so much more, just a pain with the tax bill! I've meant to comment before as I read your whole diary and its so impressive what you're getting done with the business and kids and OH. Your training also sounds so good! Keep going, you will get the house deposit!

It's so hard with the courses, but if you've found one you like and know it will be worth it in the long run to generate more income then I'm sure you will find a way to get the money for it. Will be following and cheering you on!
Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
    OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

Having a really Awful day, really struggling, have suddenly had a whole load of members leave so we are down massively in money now. We’ve had to reduce staff pay and hours and make some tough decisions today, and have had to temporarily lay some people off which means more unpaid work for us to do. As any money saved is literally keeping the wolves from the door with the business. I forgot that after OH’s eye surgery on Friday he is unable to work or see for that matter. So next week I am full time home schooling, working 3 jobs as have to restart the kids business online as desperate for the money. Whilst running the house looking after the pets and looking after a partially sighted OH. The thought of it is actually reducing me to tears. I don’t know how I’m going to cope. I really don’t. I physically can’t do it all. But what choice do i have? I don’t know who to ask for help. Family or friends can’t help. I’m at a loss.
  • @missymoo81 so sorry to hear about the members leaving. You are such a tough cookie, & you will manage because you always do.

Is there no possibility of the children’s father looking after the children for a couple more days whilst you have so much going on?

Can you not repay as much into your house fund this month to make things a little easier?

Can anyone else take your OH for the eye surgery? I know it’s harder now with lockdown but I wish you well & hope you manage to sort something out.

Thanks so much babybelles, the children’s dad is going away for 2 weeks for work hence why I will be solely home schooling. And no there is no one else to take OH for his surgery, as the only family willing to help are looking after the children for us. I’m not paying anything into the house fund this month as absolutely don’t have any money to do so. 😢

You can only do what you can do & at least you are exploring all avenues.

Try to plan some really easy meals next week so you don’t have to worry about that. Sandwiches, pizza, spaghetti on toast, jacket potatoes. Stuff you can just easily put together.

Home school when you can & if they end up watching a bit more tv or playing on an iPad then so be it. Just do what you can, when you can.

With your jobs can you not try to condense your working hours a little so you are not having to keep going back to jobs at different times throughout the day or is that just not doable?

You are such a hard worker & are already thinking about what to do going forward.

Aw Missy, have a hug. As others have said, you are only human, and you can only do as much as you can. Take a deep breath. As Babybelles says, if the kids end up doing more playing than schooling this week then that's just the way the world is at the minute. Meals can be beans on toast if necessary, just do what you can.

As for the tax bill, do you have to pay it all in one go? Is there some kind of exemption this year from paying next year's bill in advance, given the ongoing situation?

You'll get through this lass, it'll be hard but you can do it xxx

Thanks cheery and babybelles. I have emailed the school to ask for help. Still feeling really down and have a day of homeschooling and work today. Hope you’re all ok.
  • I really hope the school can help you. No wonder you feel down, you have a lot going on. Just remember life is so fluid that nothing stays the same. It’s just going to be one full on week. It will be hard work but if anyone can do it you can! You are such a hard worker & they do say hard work pays off, it just might take you a bit longer to see the benefit of this.

You take care & I hope once the dust settles you manage to take a bit of time out for you as it sounds like you need & definitely deserve it x
  • I know it's hard, but don't feel like you have to be 'teaching' your DCs constantly - you are not their teacher. Let them try doing worksheets on their own, play educational games online, or watch educational videos. I've heard that BBC are releasing loads of educational programmes.
