Is any of it saleable?  Could try selling on the local Facebay, particularly the old toys and decent clothes.

If the clothing isn't saleable then do your local council have a textile recycling collection?  I know mine does but not sure whether all councils do.

Books - perhaps try Music Magpie or similar?

i have a problem, I have lots of old children’s clothes and books and old toys that I’d usually give to the charity shops but they’re all shut. What can I do with it now?!
I'd list them on Fbook. Try selling them first - you could just separate them into logical bundles ie a bag full of musical toys, bundles of boys clothes, girls clothes etc. Anything that doesn't sell, list free to collector.

That’s a good idea. I’ll try and find some time to do that over the weekend. Not much is selling on FB at the moment. I had a lovely canvas that I put on for £10 and no ones bothered with it

Thanks for that though, I will definitely recycle the clothes as there’s a bug bin thing at Tesco. They’re really not worth selling. And the toys I think I will put in bundles thanks and put on FB.
So, managed to finish my tax return, home school children, do washing, help
OH, do 20 mins exercise and make chilli. I also phoned re course but no one answered, and did 2 lots of programming and coached oh and unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and made the children burritos. Along with feeding children, cats and husbands! So not a bad day.

Am in bed which is unheard of. Had to borrow £500 from house deposit to pay rent as just didn’t have enough to pay for it and have just found out my tax bill is actually £7.5k of which I need to pay by the end of January!!!!!!! Not sure how I’m supposed to find that!

You are doing great.  I agree that home schooling is so much more intense this time!

Hope you can sort out the tax bill.

How much were you expecting the tax bill to be? Have you already got something put aside towards it?

Hey welshkitty! Well I’ve not had to do a tax return before where I’ve paid tax as I’ve always earned too little but I have 3 self employed jobs now. I thought it would be £2.5k and it’s actually £7.5k. And I have to pay some of 20/21 up front because of the way they do it, hence why it’s so high. I need to pay it by the end of jan. so I need to try and make that back somewhere!!!!!
  • Wow, that's a big difference. Did you fill the forms in yourself & are you sure that's right?
Have you listed any of your items for sale yet?
  • Morning Missy, ouch on the tax front. Maybe you need to temporarily take from house fund (which I know you wont want to do) but you have so many other things to worry about and this is one less to worry over right now. Just thinking of your self care. I say this as I'd be the same.

How difficult is the self assessment form to do? I'll be renting out a property soon so will be joining the self assessment party next year :s.

Happy Sunday everyone! I’m sat watching Bless this Mess programmes drinking coffee. I’ve got some tidying, washing and sorting to do today. Me and OH are going to go on a walk at some point. Going to read through some of the diaries and catch up.
