You all say get a decent foot pump.

Try and find one.  I bought a Heyner a few years back allegedly made in Germany (I suspect the closest it got to Germany was when the boat came up the English Channel) good reviews etc.  That only lasted a couple of years.

So what is a decent foot pump.

PS I have a hand pump for PCP Airguns and I really don't fancy giving myself a cardiac with a car tyre.

TPMS should  not need resetting after each time that the tyres are inflated. It works ( some systems) on the speed of the valve rotation. And a foot pump, too much like hard work- compressors are cheap!

Been out and reset the TPMS and that cleared the warning. Still going to buy a tyre inflator though as my trust in the forecourt ones go down every time I use one.
You should always perform a reset whenever you makes changes to the tyre pressures. RTFM  :)

I have one of the Ring digital tyre inflators, it seems fairly accurate but I've also used a track pump as show earlier. The big advantage of having a pump/inflator of some sort is it allows you to check the tyre pressures when the tyres are cold and inflate accordingly.

I have a compressor with a digital readout. I set it to a desired pressure and then leave it until it thinks it has reached the set pressure. When I disconnect it I check the tyre pressure using a manual gauge ... the compressor gets quite close. (e.g. I set 34 psi and the gauge reads 33.5 psi). The dash display in the car also show tyre pressures - again these are fairly close, so are a reasonable guide to tyre pressure problems.

I have no idea what that is. A quick look suggests it's similar to a track pump in external appearance, but three-stage compound and delivering far higher pressures - so very different in function.

A bike track pump delivers more volume (what you're after here) per stroke than a foot pump, and uses your core muscles and both arms instead of just one leg. You don't need much pressure at all - less than 2 bar, usually.

I've used them for van tyres going up to 3-3.5bar, and they're as quick as a 12v buzzbox. Nothing's as good as a proper air-tank compressor, of course, but...

Anyone recommend a decent tyre inflator / air compressor? I had a cheap one off eBay years ago that vibrated itself to death.

I'm sick of using the one at ASDA as I don't think it's worked properly in a long time.

Tyres on my 2014 Focus are supposed to be 30psi. They were up at 35psi so used the ASDA one to set them back correctly to 30psi and now I get a warning on dash to check tyre pressures and it won't go away.

I have the AA branded one referenced in the linked article as being ok but slow. I don't find it slow but then I'm not in a hurry, and I don't have loads of tyres to inflate all the time.

I do wish I had a mains or dual power (12v/230v) model though, as I have 230v sockets in the garage and it would save any worries about depleting the car's battery, but these are pricier than 12v-only models

This is a decent foot pump! But you do need to restore them, they make a nice little project. I got myself a smaller model, the Junior, compared to modern stuff its built like a battleship and its designed to be repaired, you can dismantle it, replace the leather seals if need be. Looked after, these things should last almost forever, they're so robust.
