Help - Knitters (Pigpen?) I don't understand the pattern.
Im to cat on 47 sts and knit rib (yes; I can do this)
BUT
Next row Cast on 6 sts, (P1K1) 3 times across these sts then rib to end.
Next row Cast on 6 sts, (K1P1) 3 times across these sts then rib to end.
rep the last 2 rows 4 times more 107 sts.
don't understand the bits in bold
This is for the collar for the polo top in June 2020 Prima.
All help appreciated (not least because I've knitted the front and the back and the end is in sight).
ETA does it mean cast on 6 sts at the beginning of these rows and rib those sts 3 times then rib to end of row? Still not sure how to cast on at the beginning of a row, thoughDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Otherwise turn the knitting round first, then cast on at the beginning of the rib row by putting your RH needle into the gap just under the RH needle between the first and second stitches on the row, wool round needle as usual, pull the new stitch through the gap, and transfer the new stitch onto the LH needle so that it becomes the first stitch in the row. Do this 6 times, then do the rib/moss stitch row - you must knit into the first cast-on stitch, don't just slip it.
In case that isn't clear, I will look for better instructions online and post a link in a minute or two.

I should have said - cast on with the same strand of wool that you used for knitting the previous row!!!
There are various tutorial videos on YouTube, but beware the American ones that use the continental style of knitting (where the length of wool is held in the left hand, rather than the right as I was taught). I haven#t found an English version yet!6 -
Correction to my previous post - sorry!
Otherwise turn the knitting round first, then cast on at the beginning of the rib row by putting your RH needle into the gap just under the **LH** needle between the first and second stitches on the row,

This is beginning to make sense; thank you.
and yes I'm a thumb cast on person.
tbh it's a small section of knitting so if I knit it and it looks awful I can pull back and have another go.
Thank you all. Im so close to having this completed I don't want to give up! Sadly my real-life knitting mentors are long gone.

Busy day here in the Skint Pit. Completely missed Gary & Robbie last night, but slept for 12 hours!
Did another fling boogie. Another bin liner full for charity shop rag bag, and another bag for charity shop.
Reorganized my chests of drawers again to make way for clean washing that has been washed through the week.
Tidied DD4 clothes in wardrobe and gibble in her room. Pull bed away from wall, hoovered skirting mattress and floor as she'd sneaked food upstairs.
Found stray clothes for DS in my drawers, so rehomed those.
Pulled DS bed from wall, and hoovered all the floor, put away stray clothes. Hoovered landing, hallway, stairs, kitchen, DR, LR and bathroom.
S&S bathroom
WM X2 and pegged out at 10pm.
Put away 3 fabric shopping bags of clean clothes. Removed 3 fabric bags worth of gibble, sorting rehoming, sorting recycling with very little going to landfill.
Drill refuses to charge so off to school recycling, gutted as it's only 3 years old. Organized washing and tumble dryer products.
Found bundle of wires and cables to test, label and recycle offenders tomorrow.
4 bags set aside for DD1
Time to turn in. As there is lots to be done tomorrow
Nighty night flyfriendsThe cold never bothered me anyway7 -
Another rubbish sleep here. It’s going to be a long day x8

Rubbish sleep here too, I woke too hot and with a headache brewing again, cool drink in hand and parrots taken. Going to sit quietly and hope it eases / I can doze for a while longer.
back later x8
