    LOL Hollypear - how embarrasing!

The mobile shops are the worst at times. I need a new phone now but I think I'm going to have to buy it from the internet, there's no way I can go back into any of my stores for a while.

No no no Johnny. Know what I just did. I have been recommended by OC for telephone MS'ing. So I am going to have to make phone calls which will be recorded but at a rate of between £1 and £7.50 a call. So I am currently PAYG so I reckon I will be better with a contract.

So I purposely went to the mobie shops I have previously MS'ed but this time I did my own scenario. That is I am not very good at MS'ing and am a dead giveaway . So I went in and pointedly looked at my watch, then pressed the stop watch part, made a really obvious point of looking at the team member's name.

By now he is looking like "OMG" I even went carrying a piece of paper looking round and making notes in an obvious way. All I missed was a badge saying "I AM A MS'ER" No way did I make it less obvious.

So I got a cracking deal. An all singing, all dancing mobile for £15 per month. That is with 500 units ie mix between texts and minutes. Then I did my "Scenario act" and raised an objection so he upgrades the mobie on the deal to a better one.

I think it is a bit like buying a car.....you just say you don't like the car but you would consider it if it had SatNav installed.:j

Timmne, have I got you right here? Are you saying for example if I do a supermarket job and have to spend £10 I can deduct that £10 from my profit at the end of the year even though I get to keep what I buy and use it as I choose?Freyagirl

If you have to spend £10, you wouldn't have been paid without spending that, at a guess. The problem is that you're not really spending £10 if you can use the things you bought so telling the tax man you didn't make a profit when you've got 30,000 toilet rolls in your cupboard is a bit dangerous.

All I'm saying is that the maximum I would go to in terms of expenses is the amount they ask you to spend and anything else I pay for. I'm happy to argue it with HMRC though, it wouldn't be logical to not spend anything as you wouldn't get paid!

I've looked high and low (and even had a tax expert friend of mine do it!) for tax papers on MSing but AFAICS they just don't exist, so we have to think logically and work by reasonable standards!

    Who is the MS company?

I think I'm gonna give GAP a miss from now on - just did my first for them and couldn't believe the kerfuffle in uploading the receipt. Is it me? And no fee, just a reimbursement for a crap meal. Why bother?
