Sinderella and SJ I have done 5 bingo jobs this week and won the square root of sod all. Got another 3 Sund, Mon & Tues so maybe I will get lucky. Are your bingo visits the Gfk ones.?

I was lucky got £30 and £10 in 2 visits but one win was the national game which could have been £60,000 if I'd been first in country to call, not just first in my club!!! Yeah same bingo as you. Surprised you've done so many! Hope you win soon!!!:D

Thanks Cookinkmummy and Josie, I suppose I am nervous of it because you don't have the anonymity of msing. Also not good with spreadsheets but if it's so easy I might schedule it in- do you have to look really business like?

Well I always wear what I used to wear to the office 'in the good old days'.
Smart trousers and top/jacket, yes business like and not jeans.;)

The discussion on claiming purchases for tax purposes is really interesting as I'm currently deciding how I should go about doing my accounts.......I think Timmne's advice to decide on a method and stick to it great advice. I already to my DHs SE accounts so I should know, but MSing is a bit different :)

I do have a question I haven't seen come up - do you all describe your SE business as mystery shopper? I've seen the phrase customer service assessor too. Just wondering what to put on the SE registration forms.......plus I do quite a few online surveys etc. and wondered if putting mystery shopper was a good idea or not. And the thought of saying I'm a mystery shopper when getting car insurance, financial products for real is really quite amusing!

And if anyone wants to pm me with who does the bingo halls I'd be really grateful ;)

    Thanks so much!

Ha! You could call yourself anything you like really, as long as it's relevant!

I've never bought anything and said I was an MSer; I might try it one day, ensuring I wink at them when I do! :D

HOWEVER, my argument is that you wouldn't be paid unless you spent £X on whatever so I always claim that much off my profit. Sometimes I give my coffee to a homeless guy if I can find one so that's allowable!

It's all subjective really as there are arguments either way. I would say claim what you think is justifiable and go with it. The likelihood is that if you are ever investigated, you'd be found to be handling it correctly anyway and wouldn't be liable for any more tax.
Timmne, have I got you right here? Are you saying for example if I do a supermarket job and have to spend £10 I can deduct that £10 from my profit at the end of the year even though I get to keep what I buy and use it as I choose?Freyagirl

I describe my business as "Retail Services", then in brackets (if space allows) I put MS & Auditing. I like retail services as it's broad so will cover MSing, auditing, and anything else like merchandising, promos etc if I ever do them.
