well, I would be too scared to report anything other than "word for word" what happened on any of my visits, and unless I am specifically asked I wouldnt give an opinion on whether I would go elsewhere, but I guess most of the surveys do have a box like that somewhere along the way....

I am not sure about the blog though - I am curious to find out if it's real or not, and to see if the writer slips up and drops themselves in it!!!

Guy this was the one where you have to give a 250 word summary of your visit from entering the shop until you left. I would include in that did I feel welcomed as a customer. Well no I didn't and only stayed and did the scenario to complete the report. But had I been merely looking for a new mobie I would have walked straight out. The shop would have lost my custom. I think it is this type of incident shops want to know about. Every business is looking to maximise there income nowadays and ignoring customers is not the way to go.

Thank you Hollypear and Tara. I applied for 4 at once so not quite sure what OC asked for. I think it might have been a rather long form asking a lot about your 'day' job etc. I don't have a problem with spelling or grammar but maybe I am too old - 60 (only 40 I am sure really!!)
    I will try again anyway

Apply to Retail Eyes, they specifically state they don't discriminate due to age (and they don't even log it).

They state that they don't discrimate due to age (nor race nor whatever) but they do. Many of the jobs are only visible to certain age ranges. I'm not even 40 yet and already can't see many jobs younger people can see.

Has anyone else had jobs rescheduled by GAP without telling you, or am I just going insane?

I was supposed to have a fast food job today, so just logged in to get paperwork off etc and the date is showing Saturday 24th. I am 99.9% positive I selected today, because (a) I wrote in my little black book that the assignment was today and (b) I knew full well I would be on holiday on the 24th. Anyway, I tried rescheduling it to today (the dates from today to Saturday are available in the drop-down list), but no joy. It still keeps showing as Saturday. I've e-mailed them etc don't expect a reply, and I'm rather cheesed off that it looks as though they're re-arranging jobs without even contacting you!

There's a difference between discrimination and getting the right person for a job - they're not going to send an 18 or an 80 year old to a family pub with kids for example, and they know that men are more likely to go to a bookies.

Their clients need the MSers to be the right people for the job according to who usually shops there.

MSing companies will take anyone on but they're quite within their rights to only give certain people, certain jobs.

    Hi

I did my first mystery shops yesterday! With hindsight I now think doing three in my first day was mildly overambitious!:rotfl:

Two were with bare and one gfk - does anyone know how long you have to wait to know if your reports have been accepted? It said on bare that you may get reports sent back by reviewers - does this happen quickly?
  • Just cancelled my Gap jobs, cba with that lot, their fees are a disgrace too. Well what fees? 3 shops two pizzerias and one greasy chicken, no fees just reimbursement.

How does that work for them? How in their mind does that cover paperwork, are you doing that for free?

Even their increased / premium fees get nowhere near what they should be paying us to shop.

Well done. That was good...3 in your 1st day. I am not with Bare so can't answer about them. I have though been with GfK for a long time and only ever once had a query from their client. I am also with Retail Eyes and had a few queries from them but this has usually been within a week.

And with GfK if there is anything in your report which is wrong such as wrong shop left or right or a wrong date etc it won't validate so you should be OK.

Welcome aboard. You will get plenty of help on here if you are stuck with anything. Good luck.
