Absolutely. I've now suddenly had these jobs appear to me and I'm not going to do them.

I looked at the fee and for the hassle that you guys say you go through, the problems once you've asked for a receipt and the chance of possibly not getting paid over the smallest of negative comment, I think I'll give those ones a miss!

Just a though though regarding asking for a receipt.

I was doing a job yesterday and went into a burger shop as a normal customer. I didn't have any cash on me so asked if I could pay on my debit card, which they said I could. It was only for £4.99. I obviously got a full receipt with this, it had dates, times and the person who served me.

This was the joint that I think RE cover, so I'm not sure if the chicken one and the other one GAP do would let you pay this way?

I always pay by card for the chicken one, but for the other one the job notes say cash only (crazy).

    What?!! How ridiculous!

Have the MS company got some kind of deal with this joint that says they will make sure they are able to tell who their MS's are? If the burger joint lets you pay by card as a normal custimer, but MS's are only allowed to pay by cash and have to ask for a receipt (which no normal customers do) then they are setting you up to be identified!

Then if you put in the report that anything was even slightly wrong, they refuse to pay you but still get their money from the client.

Just tried to graba petrol job on Gap and was rejected

Probably 'cos last time I did it they told me the toilet was out of order, it had a handwritten sign on the door saying as much and the cashier told me the same, Gap then phoned me to check because the petrol place were adamant that the toilet was most certainly NOT out of order on that day

They rang me up for a burger job yesterday and I said that as I've just started Slimming World I didnt want to do any food jobs for the forseeable future

They said "Well, you don't have to eat all the food, just taste a mouthful and then leave the rest"

I very sarcastically replied that I may as well wear a t-shirt saying "I am a Mystery Shopper" because to (1) Go in on my own and ask for a meal from the normal menu (2) Asking for a receipt and (3) Only tasting and not eating is as good as admitting what I'm doing!

So they then offered me a further incentice and I reiterated that no, I'm doing Slimming World, I dont WANT to eat fast food. Think I got through to them in the end!!!

I've got my first ever assignment next week - at Ronald's restaurant. Over £10 payment for it seems pretty good to me.

    Wish me luck!!

Good luck laffers! Take some popcorn and a comfy seat - the cabaret will be brilliant - also, remember to ask VERY loudly for your receipt, and compliment it with a little wink at the server.... :D

No idea about the fuel ones, but as regards coffee shops, you have to contact Gap and ask to be put on the list as they need to send out special equipment to you. Email them :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: or next time they ring you to do an extra assignment, ask them then.
I got a phone call specifically to ask me to do them as a new branch was opening locally. At least I know that they probably don't have any other mystery shoppers near me.

That's what they said to me when they rang asking if I could do all 4 outlets in a large shopping centre in one time frame

    I declined their offer.
Here I go again on my own....

Do you have to input the receipt number? If so, it gets passed onto the store, who will be able to see if there was a refund. Then RE might get to hear!

Don't worry, they don't pay that much notice when you go back for a refund and they'll only cross the item off your receipt, not note down the receipt no. Asking for a receipt no. is pretty much standard practice for all ms jobs. So I wouldn't worry about taking anything back - just make sure you keep a scanned copy of it from before the refund, for any future queries.
