I'm getting all my info ready for the dreaded April tax return, but again this year I will be showing a paper loss of around £300.
I'm concerned because when I first started I read somewhere that if you showed a loss then the Inland Revenue may do an investigation on you. I showed a loss of £124 last year, but this years loss will be even more!
I've only claimed what I'm supoposed to, 6p per sheet of paper printed and 40p per mile petrol, but because most of my jobs are with Gap it appears on paper that I haven't made any money, although I have in reality.
Someone also said on the thread to alter the figures to show a slight profit so that they won't investigate you, but why should I lie when it's all true? But the last thing I want to do is be investigated!!!
Help please!0 -
Just wondering what people think about BAI? Any opinions please.0

I've done quite a few jobs for them but not got to the point of being paid just yet. As a company they are really good and get back to you very quickly if you have any problems.0

I quite like working for this company. Sometimes, I have had to call a Belgium number but I can do this for free with with my telephone package. They are very polite too.
The pay is quoted in euros so, with the weakening pound, the pay is effectively going up. Be careful when doing financial shops as many are drop-in visits and if you don't get an interview on the spot then the pay is rubbish! They are also have a few phone and/or e-mail jobs each month which are quite well paid but don't expect to do more than six in a month.
The seem to have a shortage of shoppers in the Stoke-on-Trent area at the moment. (especially for financial shops). Then there is always the chance that you could get a flight to Europe or America! I have not applied for one of these yet though.
When they credit your bank account it just says CHAPS PAYMENT - no mention of the company name.
The job search tool is not to good as it does not recognise UK postcodes.
Overall, I like working for this company.0 -
With regards the RE technical problems, I had them yesterday and rang them, they said it would be fine for Monday, but it was working again last night and is working now.
However related to this, I did a pharmacy job for them last week. It was originally scheduled for the week earlier but then rescheduled for a week later. When I submitted the report, they deducted me 14 points (2 for each day that it was late-apparently) even though it was reported on the right day. Then they had the cheek to email me saying that because of this, they were putting my accound on Probationary (despite me having been with them for nearly 2 years, over 1000 points, and 9 jobs pending). I have since been unable to see any jobs at all to book.
I rang them and after a long argument getting to speak to the right person, they said it would change when i reported my next report. I have done three since an still no change, and rang up to be told I had to wait till monday to speak to a team leader.
I understand that their system is autmatic, but I was told they took little notice of the points, and I think that this is a disgusting way to treat somebody. I usually attach great praise to RE but this is diminshing rapidly, especially with their new system.
Thats my rant over, just thought I'd see if anyone else has had these problems, and if not, be warned, it may happen soon!!!0 -
Hiya Everyone,
I registered with Retail Maxim AGES ago, but havent heard anything from them (unless ive accidentally deleted their e-mail!). Was wondering if its normal for them to take ages in getting back to you, or do they not bother to let you know if you were successful?!
RE and GAP were really quick in getting back to me!
TIA x0 -

Their new system made my machine hang like anything yesterday
Managed to submit the report though; just made lots of cups of tea while the "Please Wait" box did its thing.43580 -

I had an email from them saying that I'd been successful and they would be in contact via telephone with any shops that came up. I've done one shop for them in a 2 month period - considering i've done 5 for Gap and 3 for GRoots, Maxim do seem to be a bit thin on the ground for shops (although their reporting system and fees are pretty good!) Just wish I could do more for them !:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -
Hi folks just a small question.
I have done a couple of gap jobs in the last few months, but i always seem to get pipped at the post most of the time.
How do you swing the odds in your favour, because apart from sitting looking at a computer screen 24 hours a day i cant see how it aint going to keep happening.
Do gap put their stuff on at a certain time of day in your experience.
Please help a struggler.
Thanks0 -
