Very foolish. How do you know this isn't puppy farming?Indidoodaah said:
It's not a dog business page its another business. I've seen photos of the pup and mum and a photo of the dad.hollydays said:
This whole thing sounds like a recipe for disaster. What decent breeder sells a dog to someone without seeing them....They have a Facebook business page? Do they have a limited company name, or are they registered as a dog breeder with their local council?Have you then presumably not seen the mother and pup together?Indidoodaah said:
I have already acknowledged that it was foolish so this really isn't helpfulneilmcl said:Why are people still buying pets this way!
I would never dream of spending that amount of money on a puppy where I haven't been able to visit the breeder and see how the puppy is being reared. If you can't physically visit then at least have access to video streams showing the puppy with it's mum etc.5 -
So any breeder that doesn’t follow the guidelines of the site they advertise on is already proving themselves to be less than trustworthy , I’m with some of the other posts and worry this is either a puppy farm or an outright scam. If the breeder does a vanishing act then there is no hope of buyer seeing their deposit again anyway.Mojisola said:Indidoodaah said:I haven't seen them in person, I have seen photos and I have their address.
It was from Pets4Homes website. The Pets4Homes site says -"Safety Notice from Pets4Homes - NEVER send money for a deposit or pay for a pet online. ALWAYS visit the advertisers home to view the pet and confirm they are genuine. Op doesn't like the advice they've received and has edited their OP2

You've seen photos of a pup with their mother and a photo of a male dog with no way to know that the person advertising even owns the animals in the photographs.Indidoodaah said:It's not a dog business page its another business. I've seen photos of the pup and mum and a photo of the dad.

I think that this is the first time I've stated anything like this on this forum but this is one occasion that I do hope the OP doesn't get their money back and doesn't get what they paid a deposit for.
Owning a dog is a long term commitment that requires a lot of responsibility and planning and failing to follow all of the advice given by animal rescue charities and animal welfare groups IMO, shows that the OP simply doesn't have the required level of responsibility to have a dog.
Maybe the loss of their £250 will help focus their mind a bit and lead to them doing a bit more research before trying again.7 -
Exactly. When we got our pup (he'll be 2 in September) we first went to see him (and his siblings) with their mother when he was about 4 weeks old. (We never met the father but the breeder showed us the family tree certificates from the Kennel Club ... not that KC registration was on our list of requirements - it was the hypoallergenic nature of the breed [Bichon Frise] that mattered for us). We saw him again at 6 weeks and then collected him at (I think) 8 weeks. We're still in touch with the breeder (she kept one of the litter) and have met up regularly over the last 18 months for group walks ... well, we did until lockdown anyway.shaun_from_Africa said:

That's him on the right (with his tongue out) - he's 20 months now. The boy on the left is 7 years ... we got him as a re-home last September.
And yes - they've had home grooms. 🤣 Thankfully the groomer is now back open so they're booked in for a proper job.

I'm with George Michael. I hope OP loses the £250 as a valuable lesson. The way they've gone about buying a dog doesn't bode well for them as a dog owner so perhaps OP and the puppy have each had a lucky escape.3

Excellent, another 'I can't believe I'm reading this' thread.
- OP hands money over to what is probably a puppy farm without visiting
- OP magically expects a deposit to be refundable, without discussing this first. Note - a deposit is ALWAYS to be treated as non refundable, otherwise what is the point? People could just back out like they would without a deposit all the time. Use your head.
- OP throws toys out the pram, thus not helping anyone else that stumbles across the thread in future.
Well done for being incredibly selfish on what is probably 3 points. High five!
Also, your post history suggests you're just a bit of an unreasonable person - not wanting to pay admin on import charges (want them to work for free? Sure!)
Maybe it's time for a bit of self reflection

Have you now seen the puppy
have you got your money back
have you given it up as a lost cause
why delete your OP0
