No spend day today. The weather guess says that the weather will be cooler on Wednesday. That means I can put off buying fresh salad stuff for a couple of days and make do with veg out of the freezer instead. The weather guess isn't renowned for being right though (BBC weather app on my phone because it was quick and easy to look at).

Big spendy start to the month with a visit to the local farm shop for a bulk buy for meat, and then a weekly shop at T's for the rest. £72.54 out of £100 gone already, but should only need top up shops for the rest of the month. Also need to stop eating rubbish out of boredom - I'm 6kg (nearly a stone) heavier than I was in December!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Another NSD today. When I made the HT's dinner last night I made enough for tonight too (pasta and gammon in tomato and marscapone stir in sauce). When he's at school he eats this for lunch every day (his choice) so it's no problem for him to have it two nights running. I had fish and salad with oven chips. Breakfast was toast for me and a bacon sandwich for him. I had houmous and salad wraps for lunch with a little dribble of chilli oil to make them more interesting. The HT has had a cheese and ham baguette for lunch every day for the last week and shows no sign of wanting anything different so far. He has some sensory issues and lunch is a battle not worth fighting as far as I'm concerned.
Tomorrow will be a shopping day as we want some treats from Home Bargains as part of a birthday present for the HT's best friend. It makes sense to pick up anything else that I need at the same time so I have a list. Some is stuff that that is usually in stock and some is more of a "maybe" like glace cherries.
Tonight I want to look through some recipe books and see if I can find anything new that the HT and I will both eat. For anyone who thinks he's just a picky eater, sensory issues are in a league of their own. When he was a baby I used to make sure his bib was like a slide from his mouth down to his highchair tray as he gagged and vomited so much on food. He doesn't like McDonalds, doesn't eat most sweets and shop bought cakes and doesn't drink juice, squash or fizzy drinks. He does eat a much wider variety of food now than he used to, mostly due to my insistance on him trying new things that I think he will like.4 -
Thank you for running this thread. I know it is a big help to everyone.
Our June goes 1st to 30th. Our budget is £300 for two adults (one vegan and one omni) and a chinchilla. Includes all food and drink (minus special occasions and alcohol), chinchilla items (food, hay, treats etc), cleaning, toiletries etc.
Spent so far £123.43.
This was between an A&C delivery yesterday and a Mr S C&C. The C&C was very well done in my opinion; stated name and reference and the guy brought boxes out of the van placing them near us and we just moved everything into our shopping trolley (L!dl buy a few years back and well worth the buy) and bags. Soo quick and easy with distances observed perfectly at all times. A little annoying we can't get delivery in this area still but all in all not bad.
Medium vegetable and fruit box £19.95 (definitely think you get better value for money for the small and large boxes but not too bad)
Potatoes
Onions
Hokkaido squash
Celery
Mushrooms
Red pepper
Spinach
Flat peaches
Oranges
Also got 2 punnets of strawberries (so tasty) and a 4 lemon pack in addition to the above fruit and vegetable box.
OH got his milk and there were a few other extras also.
I need to sit down and work out my week meal plan still.
OH knows basically what he's going to have this week.
£123.43/£300
£176.57 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy5 -
Hi all, done my first couple of shops to start the month and fill the fridge. Tesc* yesterday spent £65.53 - got quite a bit of fresh meat, fruit & veg, milk, bread products, crisps and snacks for the kids. This morning I popped to A1di to get some cooked sliced meats and a few other reduced priced bits, spent £13.84. Just need to be careful to not overspend to soon in the month, leaving little for fresh produce later.Grocery Challenge 2024
