Count me in again for £150 for June.
It is only me,well should only be me.However DD lives nearby and is in need of support, mentally and financially.
So milk ,eggs, fruit and veg should be all that needs to be bought, everything will be made from scratch by shopping out of the store cupboard and freezer. I have even learned how to make yogurt in the slow cooker ,to go with HM granola - yummy breakfast and occasionally pudding !
Be safe and be kind to ourselves

First big shop of the month came to £63.97 at Morrisons. I have a few smaller shops to add, which I think are in my notebook upstairs;so I will endeavour to do that later on.
I think last month went pear shaped because of having to constantly go to the shop for milk, meant always grabbing other stuff at the same time. Admittedly stuff we need; but all meaning that each shop then became £5-10 each time, which soon adds up. We can now get twelve milks from Morrisons instead of five of the previous shop, so we won't need to go into Lidl every two minutes now. Hopefully, this should keep spends down.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £126.10/150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Hi Narola.
After a lot of searching the simplest UK recipe that I found was the Good Food slow cooker bio yogurt.
Years ago I used to make it in wide necked Thermos flasks, but I can only find one flask and it was such a faff splitting the quantities etc.
I'd had OOD Jersey whole milk from local Co-op,Aldi sell similar 60p .
Recipe says 2L whole milk and 100ml live yogurt,I used Yeo valley .It must be live or it won't work and don't use flavoured!!
Tip milk into slow cooker.Cover and heat on high until the temperature of the milk reaches 82C ,this will take a couple of hours( I used my jam thermometer but it's when the bubbles appear all the way round). Turn off the slow cooker and allow the temperature to drop to 43C ,that takes a few hours. ( stick your little finger in and it's just warm)
Take a mugful of the warm milk and mix it with the yogurt then pour the mixture back into the slow cooker and stir really well.Cover, wrap the slow cooker in a big towel and then leave undisturbed for 9-12 hours until the mixture has set.
Don't turn the slow cooker back on ,it's warm enough to work, and I dare you not to look to see if it's working!
I mix in a couple of tablespoons of dried milk with the yogurt as it makes it thicker, but the first few times it should be thick. However its very easy to strain the yogurt in muslin/J-cloth in colander over a bowl until you get the consistency you like.
Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
I used it for overnight oats with frozen raspberries for this mornings breakfast,it was pretty yummy and very filling..
I have to make more granola this morning,I prefer the crunch.
It's cost effective and gives you a lovely Ta-Dah moment
Have fun
MrsS
PS sorry it's such a long post x11 -

DH has gone shopping with a list that I hope he sticks to. Very hard staying at home as this is one of my things. I would have waited until Monday (payday!) but he made the point that if we leave it for two weeks it takes ages so we have compromised on 10 days. So we will exceed my average £200 for each month but should only have 3 shopping days in June.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

What recipes do you add it too? I use onions in most things but not always mushrooms and garlic! I like the idea of adding it to meals from frozen though.
Mushrooms are one of my veggie "fillers" but, if you don't want them, leave them out. Ditto the garlic.
