One of my best friends came round last night. Despite living 2 miles away I haven't seen him properly in person in over a year. He's really really worried about covid.

Spent 2 hours chatting in the garden which was lovely. He's due his second jab soon and I'm having my second one this afternoon and husband is having his first one on Monday so he reckons he'll feel better about socialising in person after that.

I have a full on head cold that i caught from one of the kids at school.

We've had an electrician in today whilst we've been at work to fit more a more modern fuse box and replace some sockets. Had to put the cats into the (very large custom build) shed today as we're not allowed pets. (As was the rules in the previous 3 houses we've lived in - Ive never paid it much heed as I love cats and we have an almost obsessively tidy house and well behaved cats.)

In other exciting pet based news Ive been lent an incubator by a manager at work, I'm going to get some eggs from work tomorrow to see if i can hatch some chicks with my daughter! She'll love it and I love chickens, one day when i own my own house I'd love to have a few as pets.

The deal is i'm being lent the incubator and chick runs and feeders for free on the understanding that once they get less chick like (and too big to go into the repurposed guinea pig cage) that I give them back to school to bolster the chicken numbers.

  • It’s fabulous fun keeping chickens and having hatching eggs in an incubator. My older children often recall the characterful chicks and hens  we had when they were younger. Your DD will love it...great memories to be made🙂.
