One of my best friends came round last night. Despite living 2 miles away I haven't seen him properly in person in over a year. He's really really worried about covid.
Spent 2 hours chatting in the garden which was lovely. He's due his second jab soon and I'm having my second one this afternoon and husband is having his first one on Monday so he reckons he'll feel better about socialising in person after that.Bottom line;

My mum actually sent the money through for the timer belt! So that's a massive boon and doesn't mean 3 months of increased frugality to afford it.
I'm going to stop at the garage tonight and get it booked in.
In other news I have managed to get a family swimming session booked for the first time since 2019! We went swimming in the sea lots last summer because the leisure centre was closed- now it's opened again sessions book out super quickly and I haven't been able to get one yet but the lady at the front desk told me they release new sessions every monday at 8am so managed to get one booked for May 2nd!Bottom line;

Lovely first week back at school. Year 11s are now off timetable and off doing life skills stuff each day so I'm teaching more of the year 8 and 9 classes which has been a change. Some of them are lovely.... Others less so but its given me chance to implement a new reading strategy in my KS3 English lessons which has started well.
Also my daughter got her year 1 spelling badge- very proud of her.Bottom line;

I have a full on head cold that i caught from one of the kids at school.
We've had an electrician in today whilst we've been at work to fit more a more modern fuse box and replace some sockets. Had to put the cats into the (very large custom build) shed today as we're not allowed pets. (As was the rules in the previous 3 houses we've lived in - Ive never paid it much heed as I love cats and we have an almost obsessively tidy house and well behaved cats.)
In other exciting pet based news Ive been lent an incubator by a manager at work, I'm going to get some eggs from work tomorrow to see if i can hatch some chicks with my daughter! She'll love it and I love chickens, one day when i own my own house I'd love to have a few as pets.
The deal is i'm being lent the incubator and chick runs and feeders for free on the understanding that once they get less chick like (and too big to go into the repurposed guinea pig cage) that I give them back to school to bolster the chicken numbers.Bottom line;

It’s fabulous fun keeping chickens and having hatching eggs in an incubator. My older children often recall the characterful chicks and hens we had when they were younger. Your DD will love it...great memories to be made🙂.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

When we went to the Entertainer a few weeks ago they had a 'design a superhero mark' competition given out as a leaflet. Daughter loves crafty things so coloured it in and decorated it and I dutifully sent it in. Got an email yesterday to say that she's won and asking about her favourite toys so that they can send her a big toy bundle. Led me on a bit of a 'isn't it worth entering free competitions, just in case you win!?!" Which daughter wholeheartedly agreed with.
Now I just need to win the free radio competition to win £55,000 that i've been entering without fail every morning.
But what with the Tesco win at christmas and now this it's been a good year for competitions!

Parcel arrived on Friday and it's well over £100 worth of toys! Daughter absolutely loved them and has been playing with a bunch of them for most of the weekend. It came at exactly the right time as it absolutely hammered it down all of Saturday and most of Sunday so other than a quick park trip on Sunday morning we spent the weekend inside.
I've had a really bad cold over the weekend so still bouncing back from that. But in excellent news gym classes are starting again next Monday so I can get back into my routine of those classes- started doing some sit ups and crunches last night (30 and 15) in preparation, I'm going to build up the numbers across this week so I don't keel over with exhaustion mid-way through the first session next week!
