Wow the raffle ticket idea is amazing. Can I ask how the prizes are funded - my DD is in her 2nd year of a primary teaching degree and her specialism is SEND, this would be something she’d be really interested in knowing what a positive effect it has on your pupils but knowing how it’s funded would help her if she even used it in the future TIA.

I work in a private school run by an educational trust so all the kids placement fees are astronomically high (paid by local educational authorities.) The education group I work for makes something mental like 32 million a year from a handful of schools. (obviously then it's taxed and running costs come out but still!)
Basically it's worth working in the independent sector as there's far more money to work with if you end up at the right school. If I ever need resources the budget is there, however my last school was also in the private sector but awful; at one point I had to buy my own pens for my classroom but all the SLT were driving BMWs.Bottom line;

Smashed another lesson observation yesterday so feeling pretty good about that. I had the lovely year 11 GCSE history group who are usually a delight to teach but they properly threw their backs into it the second that they realised I was being watched. So I spent £2 on way to work today to buy them all some chocolate for today's lesson as a thank you. That should also hopefully be the last round of observations before Christmas.
Raffle tickets have as predicted immediately improved the behaviour across the board this week. I've only had one lesson be properly crackers this week (hilariously was my form who are all year 7s- which is funny when you consider some of the hulking 16 year old lads I teach and then it's the 4 ft 11 kids who are the most volatile) where one of them actually produced a home made shiv mid-lesson and attempted to stab another kid with it- I practically carried him out of the room! EBD is never boring! However most of the classes are almost zen like with kids working quietly, asking for extra work or just generally being lovely (It's all very transparent as to why but hey, it's blissful)Bottom line;

LOL. Bribery always works with kids. Sounds like you did well yesterday. Lovely! I always make a wreath at Christmas with my family but don't think we'll get to this year (they're all in Tier 3, I'm in Tier 2). Might try at home though! Nice getting into the Christmas spirit.2

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
