Beware Talk Talk's Free Trial

Applied for free monthly trial with TT in May 2007, plus free modem. Result, no modem, no internet access but paying £20 plus for phoneline. Be careful when applying for their free trial, they promised me a free modem and told me there would be a delay in delivery but it would arrive. Then they change over your phone line and once you have been with them a month, automatically place you on contract, whilst you are still waiting for your modem to arrive. If you dont pay they will refer you to a number of debt collection agencies. Still trying to sort out this dispute with the help of trading standards and ontelo. Two colleagues of mine also experiencing similar problems with TT.......Beware

Oh dear just signed up for the telephone contract. Pay 17.00 and get the line rental and 16 international calls free plus all uk calls all day and all night. Is this ok? I can still cancel anyone with any views on this. No internet tho. Taffy0

I cancelled Talk3 International within the trial period and I've just received a bill with a Cessation Fee of £70.
Went live on the 21st September, cancelled by phone on the 16th October (also sent a recorded letter).
TalkTalk don't switch you back to your previous supplier so had to order directly from BT to get the line transferred back, which occurred on the 31st October.0 -
oh dear does not sound good and they kept calling and calling and pushing until I finally gave in thought that I was going to save money on Toucan's deal. This is stupid that you get tied in for a year and then you can not get out even if the service is lousey. Maybe I should cancel now.0

Plus when you move back to your previous supplier your be subject to a new minimum term contract usually 12 months.
The thought occurs to me are you only getting a Free Trial of Broadband even though you have to move your line rental and calls to get it. Or is it a Free Trial of the combined package. I tried to look at T&C but link not working !0 -
Talk Talk Free 0800 customer service number (only given through a supervisor) is 0800 049 0498. For new start up problems, before you switch over to talk talk, once you switch over you don't have to pay for their 0870 numbers.0

Why Oh Why are people so disgruntled with TalkTalk.? Chief Charles Dunstone has done every Broadband user a mighty big favour by drastically reducing the cost of Broadband nationwide - in Talktalks case it free - so why all the moans. I have nothing else but praise for them - my problems solved by knowledgeable and friendly staff within days. For 18 montns I had no reason to contact them as the service was excellent however following hiccups it was quickly and efficiently sorted out. Join up with Talktalk for the lowest price of all the Broadbands services. Check the prices for yourself for instance who gives 24 hours free calls on Ol and 02 numbers - most of the others only offer a free service after 6 pm. Keep up the good work Talktalk !!0

That is my experience of them too, no complaint from me. The majority of their customers are probably satisfied like us but its only the complaints that make the headlines, I know of 8 other friends and family of mine who have no complaints either.0 -

bill why is there a problem if you want to move house? I plan to move soon and was assured by Talk talk that they will take care of the transfer quickly and smoothly you can keep the same number if in the same area code and there will be no cost. Is this not so? This is one of the reasons I went with talk talk.0
