That's interesing to know. I haven't sold on eBay for a while but have a couple of avenues of private sale and for those always offer the choice of RM or Hermes when they're the same price - if their local Hermes is reliable like ours and they want the tracking they can go with that, or if they don't trust Hermes they can pick RM without tracking. I don't know why I didn't think to offer the same choice on eBay though, but your comment makes me think I definitely should!Mikex said:When I have ordered something off Ebay then discover the seller uses Hermes it is just a matter of waiting until the item is overdue then apply for my refund through Ebay. Only once did they deliver to me 1 day late and only after a substantial load of stress caused to me and the seller.
I never knowingly order off anyone who uses Hermes.

The Ebay buyer then chooses RM without tracking and claims IND you are unable to defend the claim.Spoonie_Turtle said:

No, because standard parcels come with a reference number which, when put into RM's Track and Trace, give delivery confirmation. It just doesn't show tracking for every step of the way.Rantband said:

Is delivery confirmation enough for Ebay in defence of IND ?Spoonie_Turtle said:

Yes it is enough for both eBay and PayPal. All that is needed is online proof of delivery.Rantband said:

To clarify. It is enough for an item that has a value (inc postage) of £750 or less.Rantband said:

True! You'd not want to send something that valuable as a standard parcel though, which only covers compensation up to £20theonlywayisup said:

Any delivery method that covers up to £750 will undoubtedly have full tracking as well as delivery confirmation. 0 -
I find hermes is wonderful. With eBay I'm able to instantly buy the postage and put the tracking in within minutes, which looks to the buyer like I've instantly posted. I get a lot of kudos for this in my feedback. I Offer people the option to use hermes , or a more expensive option. Strangely they always use hermes ...Mikex said:When I have ordered something off Ebay then discover the seller uses Hermes it is just a matter of waiting until the item is overdue then apply for my refund through Ebay. Apparently the new limit after which a signature is required is £450 , although it is difficult to actually find without a heck of a search.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. During covid I imagine there is a problem finding carriers who are taking the recipeients' signatures. How do people sending high value items (£750 at the moment) cover themselves?soolin said:Apparently the new limit after which a signature is required is £450 , although it is difficult to actually find without a heck of a search.
