Hello everyone.
I'm in this week and am pleased to report my kitchen is clean and tidy. I'm just struggling with everything else ATM. I've been advised that I don't qualify for any kind of SE help from the Government, I cant claim UC as DH has had to work throughout and his income is too high (as are our outgoings, but there you go...), no business grants or loans due to slipping through all the gaps, despite having filed accounts and jumped through all the hoops. No lenders are prepared to support my business as I've only been trading for two years and my first year's accounts showed a loss due to set-up costs, blah, blah, blah.
My tenant is now asking me to write off over £700 in rent that she apparently can't pay...you know, perhaps I can just waive this amount!?...um....let me think...
My children are refusing to do any school work. I have had an email from Small's teacher asking if everything is OK, presumably as she hasn't seen anything uploaded to his file, and I've just bawled my eyes out in the garden.
Kitchen bin smells nice though.9 -
Dizzy, so sorry, don't know what to say or suggest but big hugs!
Pottering along quite well here today
Kitchen is tidy and all wiped down incl table and chairs, just need to do floors
More bedding from DD1 room in the WM,
HHI
DW filter cleaned and running on a cleaning cycle
Lunch cooked and eaten with OH which was a surprise (he took sandwiches to work but came home for lunch anyway)
Banking and finances checked.
Time for a bit of crochet whilst I finish my coffee

Aww Dizzy - stressful times.
re school work. Use a timer and set a 10 or 15 minutes task time? If there are varying tasks they must choose one and work on it for that time. Then that's it? repeat next day...slowly extend time? With (simple) rewards if completed?
I will give it more thought and if anything occurs to me I'll let you know.
We've been asked to undertake some CPD while we're off so I signed up for a Coding course then promptly forgot. However thanks to BoJo and a *possible* return date I thought I had better do it. I have almost completed week 1...phew.
Actually I'm glad I did wait until my set up - I have the coding program (Scratch - will soon be 'expert' lol) on one screen and the course on the other, so I am doing it while I am watching it - chances are I will then remember it. Feel like IT genius
Of course, other than washing the pots I have done fluff all else.

Dizzy, have a hug from me now and sending you a virtual red wine for later. My children aren't doing any work either, they are SO over me trying to teach them. I am enforcing the no screen time rule between 9-3, they are doing some TT rockstars but otherwise they are entertaining themselves. They are making up dance routines at the moment, is that PE?Proud of self, as I have eaten a frog this morning. Also cleaned the bathroom and bagged an Iceland slot for Wednesday. Now I need to go to the post office, bakery then it's Harry Potter time x9

Thank you for the lists. The plan was to be on it today as I have swapped work to tomorrow. Instead I have been on to 111 first thing for DD (not CV related, thank goodness), waited for a GP call back, been on the phone to GP about no call back, now waiting for a telephone consultation and wondering how long until I call again. DD has perked up a bit, it has been such a time. I’m just taking a few minutes from hand holding - that’s when I know she isn’t right, as since being seriously ill, she doesn’t do personal contact if she can avoid it.Hugs to all those struggling today. Good afternoon! Where has the day gone!?
I have cleaned the upstairs toilet & sink. DH has put a wash on & hung it out. He has also WULTD. We have visited the GC - still haven't got my compost in stockI bought 1 strawberry plant (to fill a space in a pot) and some sweetcorn seeds (I only have 8 plants from the last packet!) and DH bought a card and a planted patio pot for his Aunty's birthday.
I have had lunch, so now need to crack on and actually achieve something!!
Dizzy sending hugs. I'm not sure what to suggest? Have you asked for payment holidays where you can? Hopefully you're tenant is just trying their luck. A lot of people assume if you are a landlord you must be loaded, but sadly that is not the case for many.
MeandThe2 hugs to you too. Well done for the positive steps x

Enormous (((hugs))) to MeandtheTwo, Dizzy and asb. Bright kids are the worst because they know it all already (and probably do!) Yes, making up dance routines is PE, but tell them they need to find a way of recording what they do (doesn't have to be anything more than stickmen pictures, but makes them think a bit more) so that they can prove to their teachers that they have done some work!
FWIW, my DS2 reckons on about 30 minutes of his two (7 and 5) sitting down and doing what the teacher sets for English or Maths each weekday, plus a practical activity in the afternoon - last week it was gardening / cooking / craft / learning how to use hammer and nails safely.
This morning I have
- tidied and hoovered all through the house
- cleaned DH's ensuite
- washed all used towels and bath mats and hung them out with extra pegs and a prayer for no rain
- emptied all the kitchen bins and cleaned them
- found a spare small storage crate to keep all the Dy--n tools in, so that they no longer fall off the window sill in the utility
- reorganised other stuff in the utility, so that I now have some clear worktops and can open the one low-level cupboard without first having to move several boxes
- tidied up the empty seed trays that were blowing around the back yard.
I am now officially done in.
But lunch calls.....8 -
Dizzy... you are not alone!! VERY FEW parents are actually doing every scrap of school work.. remember those first few weeks where everyone was posting pics of the stuff they had done? they are almost all gone.. the children have so far missed 24 DAYS of school .. they've had 2.5 weeks for easter and 2 bank holidays.. 24 days is not a massive amount of time .. some children miss that through sickness in an academic year.. don't stress it.. if they can be off for 6-7 weeks in the summer every year this is no different. Do the 15 minutes as Valli suggests but doing other stuff is better than nothing.. watch a documentary and talk about that.. loads on disney+ and if you re-register every week with a new email you can have numerous 7 days free trials.. you can do baking and have the children weigh ingredients and read recipes, ping questions and spellings at them randomly.. maths.. we do times tables and spellings.. if they ask for a drink or fruit or anything they have a spelling and a sum to answer first. Grow plants.. watching seeds grow is rewarding and if you do things they can eat its even better. learn useful things like how to tie shoelaces and braid hair (yes boys too!) We got a few of the workbooks with wipe clean pages.. every single child will have some catching up to do when they get back to school, every single one.. don't punish yourself or make their lives miserable.. you are their mummy and there to love them and make them feel safe.. you are not their teacher.. you are doing a wonderful job.. stay sane my lovely!
fayolle.. Squeak has been ill for 10 days .. raging temp, lethargic, not eating etc.. also not CV related but she has just perked up today! I'm still waiting on a callback from the GP from 24th March!! I don't think it is happening lol.
Done nothing so far this morning.. shuffled some money about for bills, bought a christmas present (RC excavator reduced from £60 to £12.. bargainous!).. that's Spam sorted!
Dewormed all the cats..
Next job is to finalise tomorrows tesco delivery.. I WILL have food for the month!

Squishy hugs to everyone xxDizzy write to you MP (I did) not that he did much for me about my housing situation but it made me feel better, then yesterday when I was having a bad 20 mins, I wrote to the Prime Minister as well for good measure to moan again about estate agents / housing etc etc, not heard back, don't really expect to but it sort of made be feel better. If nothing else it highlights to them in 'power' that their loans/ lockdown / lack of sales etc does not cover everyoneI've cleaned the grillCan you get the kids to do 10 mins of reading per day, and a meaningful drawing..............Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Dizzy - I was hoping Piggers would advise. We are setting tasks 'for the morning' only - we are aware that multiple children in a household may only have access to 1 shared device - we are trying very hard not to overwhelm the children. Today has been 'Happiness' day with 'wellbeing' activities (which, ironically, caused me more stress coming up with them). and our tasks include a fitness activity. Usually at 9:00am while I'm contemplating actually getting up lol. Last week one of mine had a wobble, mum got in touch and said they'd try again in the afternoon - I suggested she leave it as she had done some and her mental health was (is) of paramount importance.
Kaz - looks like a question for the briefing...
Kitchen and bathroom cleaned. Since they both have floors to vac and mop as opposed to just vac.
