I just took a pile of 4 games in, said I got them for Christmas and wanted to exchange them. No receipt needed, they were unopened so they could be resold at full value. Virgin don't lose anything :)

And I don't think its illegal at all; it is however probably discretionary whether or not they let you exchange, maybe your best doing 1 at a time?

It is somewhat illegal because if they ask you if you bought them from there, you would reply yes, which is dishonest therefore rendering it illegal, but hey, who will know! If the companies didn't want this happening they should change their policy to no receipt/no refund!

I have to say though games are selling quite well on eBay at the mo, especially new ones. I actually got £22 for Big Brain Academy (2nd Hand) and it sells online at £18! Good Luck

Just been to central Milton Keynes & it seemed like everywhere had them in stock (but only as bundles). Gamestation seemed to have a huge stock, as did game. I really can't see there still being a shortage.
;7034145]And these were games you didnt buy at Virgin in the first place?
Yes. Games came as part of a 360 bundle from Toys R' Us.

I've no qualms about doing it though; the games were brand new and unopened, Virgin would just put them back on the shelf and resell them.
  • Just received my delivery from Argos!!

    Very pleased
  • Virgin has just been bought over and is now call Zavvi... wonder if they have change their policy...

I assume Virign check they're system to see what they sell the game for and thats the refund they give you?

Have you managed to get cash refund or just exchanges like this?

Is it just Virgin that are so gullible like this or most places? (I was wondering about Tesco or ASDA because a credit note here is like cash really since you can spend it on essentials like food !!!)

Still major shortage in East Anglia - I heard that Virgin in Norwich, Norfolk had 200 on Friday, phoned and they had all gone, most shops round here (Suffolk) only getting 4 or 5 at a time, which is just about enough to supply the staff.....in Tesco Bar Hill the other day one staff member even showed my husband a computer where he was watching his own ebay auction, and told him our best bet was to go for that!! Not a hope in hell of getting one in a shop!! Am still sitting in front of the computer pressing refresh in the vague hope of getting one.......
