They've gone up to £299 in the last half hour
Just checked, they are still at £247. Grab em while they have some! Hope it goes well, has anyone ordered thru them? Bit weary at the mo, with even Argos not having record of my order!
;7060551]At the end of the day its your property so I cant see why you cant do what you want with it. Fair enough if you've got pirate copies of games thats illegal, but if you're using genuine out of region games I cant see how its illegal.

Thats like saying its illegal to own a car because you might speed in it....

There are some games that will do the updates you mention but there are ways to prevent this happening now.

Of course, if you take your Wii to pieces and solder something onto the mainboard its gonna invalidate your warranty !!!!
I agree with you, friend - alas Ninty doesn't!

Hi
Argos do not always send confirmation email, I got a wii last monday, as did two friends, only two of us got confirmations the third didn't, but all wiis arrived safe! Used wii stock checker, also recommend registering with Argos, Amazon (sign in for one click), woolies and all the main sites as its much quicker to check out. tried to get one from hmv but registering took forever and lost that wii!
Hope that helps!
• I was in Boulougne on saturday in Auchan - the hypermarket, they had loads there about £190 so if you know of anyone going on a booze cruise get them to have a look.
• Unfortunately they do not work in the Uk we have a different system, they use NTSC and we use PAL so only american games work on the american systems.

Just want to clear something up, in case people begin to think they can get an American system to play European games just because they have an NTSC compatible TV:

The region locking on the Wii is completely abstracted from anything to do with power or TV standard. The region locking is applied by Nintendo arbitrarily to protect distributors of games in their respective regions (the right people need to get their money).

What's more, the Wii can be used in 480p (EDTV), which is internationally standard on all recent HDTVs.

Also be aware that while you can chip your Wii, if you take it online, any updates you download are very likely to break the console and make it unusable.

Hope this clears some things up.

Thanks, and it was an offer that was posted in-store?
• I spotted some Wii in Glasgow at Creative Computing for £299 for the Wii Sports Pack (NOT a bundle). I asked and these are European units.

It's not the cheapest price I have seen - but they had them in stock and it can be picked up in person (which I liked). It is a computer shop on the South side of Glasgow (Shawlands) and have been around for over 10 years.

I believe you can order them online too. www.creativecomputing.net

I heard woolworths had 12000 delivered yesterday I couldn't get onto their site (kept getting an error message) and they all sold in a few hours.

Yeah, go to the shelf where they should be and it's a big yellow sign saying free game when bought with console.

Not true! Most Wii chips modify just the drive controller, not the console itself and are virtually impossible to detect. I don't know any chips that can't be used online.
The only caveat is to make sure you update the Wii firmware online on a regular basis as some games from US/JAP include firmware updates that could brick your console as they are for a different region.
;7060239]Whoa... Didnt know that. Surely if you ship something through a courier you've got signature proof if it never turned up ???
Unfortunately not.

If the address is unconfirmed Paypal will not entertain you..they put out a warning to this effect on their payment received email. It's their get out. They will just say you have no proof the right person received it.

If you've got a special delivery/courier signature you can't claim from the company either.

You can be left in a situation where you post to an unconfirmed address, the buyer receives & signs for it, claims through paypal they haven't received it, & they will get their money back....& the wii.

Nice eh.

Oh...& where's markybhoy...I've got a bone to pick with him. :p
