I have been lookinf for a DS for ages and on a whim I went into Toys R US at Brislington (just outside Bristol on the Bath side) and Ihad a look in the shelf at the deals which started at £150. So i went to a member of staff and asked if they had any in stock, they did but only the black ones and he offered me this deal were for £129 i got a Black DS Lite, 3 games (good games pirates 3, disney, etc) and a accessories pack! Great value! :)

We had no idea there would be a problem getting a DS until last weekend when my husband asked if I would like one for xmas. I need the brain training badly and as I will be spending 2 weeks in hospital with my daughter he thought it might help past the time. It was only when we went to order one from argos we realised that they were in short supply. He was fortunate and got me a package in Argos. IT was then my son said he would like one followed closly by his sister. We have been asking them for months what they wanted, they then decided that they would buy them themselves with their xmas money. For months we had asked them if they wanted DS, PSP Wii and no definately did not want them. Anyway I have been a good mum and found them both one for xmas as they ask for very little. They will be sooooo excited and they can spend their money on some games! If I had knowen sooner like moat of us on here I would have bought it months ago.

I am considering buying a nintendo ds from amazon.de. Are there any issues with buying one from them? I take it the default language of the sytem is German, is this easily changed to english? For mains power use in Britain is it simply a case of buying an adaptor? I have also noticed some for sale at play-asia.com and they are advertised as 220v, here's the link -

is this the voltage for Britain or will there be any issues with mains power use with these? Are play-asia.com a reputable company? So many questions! Thanks for all the help on MSE! :-)

It is just a case of buying an adapter - yes, they're not region specific and they do allow a language selection.
If you get an asian one on 220V you may not be getting a genuine Nintendo adapter (if that matters to you) but it will work over here. Also if you're buying outside of the EU remember you might have to pay import/vat.
The link you gave was for a white one - you could get this in UK at 24studio.co.uk.
    Hope that helps

enakn..I agree with everything you say, except studio don't deliver!
They promise 14 days, then put your order back to Feb/march 2008..unless anyone here has received anything?

If it were me I'd go for Amazon.de or Amazon.Fr if they have them in stock. Delivery I would say is a max of 4 days, so if you order today it will probably be with you Thursday at the latest.

I've ordered one from here http://www.videogamesplus.ca read some pretty good reviews about them, i ordered it on 07/12 at 15.36 and by 07/12 at 21.40 had an email saying shipped.
Just for the console it's about £87.?? they had no pink which is what i was after for the OH, so i got a crimson and black for me  just need an adaptor which is about £5 from game.
Still need a pink and some games.

I think I'll go for the amazon.de deal but I'm struggling putting a uk postcode in the 'Postleitzahl | Ort:' field and also the 'Geburtsdatum | Geburtsort:' date of birth field. Can anyone help with the format of this fild too? Can anyone help with this problem? Thanks :-)
  • Hi, I was just off to have a look..but which colour are you going for? It looks like only the black ones are in stock.

Edit: Oh, hang on, I may be wrong..I was just going off the front page.
