Hi

is anyone else finding Santander really slow for the bounce back loan?

  • I applied on Tuesday afternoon at about 3pm and haven’t yet heard anything - it’s 2pm Thursday now. The ‘you will receive an email in 24 hours’ was always going to be optimistic, given that they’ve probably had thousands of applications to wade through and I would imagine a lot of their staff will be working from home.

    When did you apply?

Me. Applied Monday 8.30am. Had an email Tuesday 10.30pm to say the application was being reviewed. Since then, nothing.

It’s not secured against there money

Sounds like you're at least getting somewhere. I've still heard nothing since Tuesday.

I applied last Tuesday morning with Santander. Personal account with Santander with a business account with Starling who weren't offering BBLS then

Had a confirmation on Wednesday evening

Asked for my tax return, proof of trading address and proof of nature of business late Thursday night. Responded immediately

Yesterday lunchtime I was asked for business bank statements. Again responded immediately

Today asked for why I hadn't approached Starling. Sarcastic answer given that when I first applied over a week ago Starling weren't offering BBLS but in the time it has taken Santander to still not process my application Starling have managed to get accredited. Awaiting further response

At this point I don't care if Santander approve me or send me to Starling but I can't go to Starling who have just opened their sole trader applications while my Santander application is open
  • I applied online last Tuesday afternoon (5th May). Got an email with documents and requesting that I sign it last night (Mon 11th May) about 8pm, which I did as soon as I received it. Money arrived in my account mid morning today (Tuesday 12th May) - I wasn’t asked for any further documentation.

I’m a sole trader and have had a basic santander business account for about 3 years now.

Similar to me then in that I'm a Sole Trader with a Santander business account for 3 years. But I've had nothing since applying on the morning of the 4th. It all just seems a bit of a mess.

I realised as I was printing off a statement today that I hadn’t updated my address when I moved, so did that online and then went into a branch to change my statement date, which they did (statements would have had my old address on) so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to print off one with my current address which is the postcode I entered when applying for the BBL.
So the email request I got today probably isn’t the norm for their BBL applicants.
I did read on Twitter that they weren’t working on the loans from Friday through to yesterday and only started up again today so hopefully things will get moving again this week and we will all hear something.
Honestly it’s like being a kid and waiting for Christmas but trying to stop yourself getting too excited in case you don’t get want you asked for!
