Thanks all, going through a whole range of emotions at the moment, one minute I’m fine the next I’m in floods of tears.. I have a few ideas mulling round in my head and I know in my heart of hearts it’s been coming for a while but didn’t think it would come so quickly...Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

It's always a shock no matter how prepared you are.
I'm sure it will work out for the best, but that's for the future.

So I have spent a few weeks licking my wounds, OH has also been made redundant so we now have no income😬. We are very fortunate that we both had long service with our employers so even though our payout was statutory we ended up with a half decent amount due to us both being over 40 and our long service. We have decided to take a bit of a career break for a few months and refocus on what we want our future to look like. We both realise that we are extremely fortunate to be able to do this and since finishing work it has been like a huge weight has been lifted for both of us. I still feel slightly anxious from time to time but I have to keep reminding myself that I wasn’t happy for many years in my role and absolutely despised the company and stupid politics that seemed to dominate every hour of the day. Anyway onwards and upwards......
So after spending a few weeks thinking we where doomed and that I wouldn’t be able to make any overpayments to the mortgage I have come up with a plan to keep a trickle of money coming in and have revived my eBay account, set up Qmee for surveys and redirected my Tilly tidy account and each month on the day when I would of normally been paid I will be making an overpayment to the mortgage. My ultimate goal is to earn enough to overpay by £500 each month. I have 2 weeks under my belt and 2 weeks to go and so far the earnings are looking like this
ebay - £180
q mee - £9.30
tilly tidys - £14.70.
so still under 50% of the way there but I have 2 weeks to go and have quite a lot listed on eBay so I’m hoping I’ll earn another £200 on there over the next 2 weeks, fingers crossed.
we are in full monk mode currently which is challenging when being off work as the temptation to spend daily is very easy, so finding cheap and cheerful hobbies is the priority now.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Really sad to hear this, but I think it's great about the career break and future planning.
Sounds like it should ultimately work in your favour, finger crossed! 🤞

Thanks thanks both for stopping by... I have completely neglected my diary and this forum in general over the last 2 months so have spent some time yesterday catching up on Diary’s and also reading back over my own diary. Yesterday was pretty uneventful but I am learning to appreciate these slower days.Walked to the post office but took a longer route in order to get my steps for the day in. Cleaned out the fridge and re-organised the freezer. Made an apple crumble to use up some apples, and a chicken curry for tea so complete stodge really 🙈. Grand plans for today.. food shop and clean all internal windows, I have sold another 2 items on eBay so will package these up ready for my Wednesday post office outing.. nudging closer to my target.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.
