Some of the board's have very blunt people commenting. Hopefully there will be a few useful pointers to enable you to rework your plans. It may not be the target date you want, or you may want to lower your annual budget a bit, but you will get there xMortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2

Not much to report today, been mulling over our long term plans, being mortgage free is stage 1.
I have made enquires in work about increasing my pension contributions and also asked what the maximum employer contribution is so I’m waiting to hear back, I think I will increase my contribution by 1%. When my car lease ends in January we will go down to one car and I will increase further then.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Sounds like a positive step forward TnT, your 1% will also receive 0.20% extra free.
Don't be disheartened, you will bounce back with a new plan, another after that and another 😉Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
What is going on with the weather! I do love a good thunderstorm like we had on Saturday night though. Tonight it’s thundering but no rain as of yet.
Not much happening at the moment, on a roll with NSD’s, feels unnatural now to spend money, I was tempted to have a shop bought lunch today as a treat but the thought of having to que up outside the shop made me think again so I threw an avacodo and some crispbreads in my bag and saved myself the £6 I probably would of spent.

Sounds like an opportunity for a £6 OP 😀?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!2 -
We've had 3 today, all with rain, proper lightning and thunder! 😀
You know want to make that small OP...If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
The weather is reacting to life opening up and telling us to stay hiding away!
Well done on your NSDs. Keep it up and soon you won't even think about buying a lunch while out or spending just for spendings sake.
Ways to keep focused:
How many lunches could you make at home for that £6?
How many minutes would you need to work to earn that £6?

Well done on your OP, I think it can be helpful l to think of the OP in terms of the amount you have paid plus the interest you will save as it seems more worthwhile then.
I am considering posting on the retirement board soon but have a feeling they will recommend not so much going towards the mortgage so think I am putting it off because of that.
Those £6 lunches all add up, keep going.Mortgage Aug 2019 161,000 :eek::eek:Nov 2019 156,500:T Jan 2020 153,122:T, Apr 2020 149,500, Apr2021 139, 675, Oct 2021 136,823, Dec 2021 136,120🙂EF 0/12,000 (0%)😕 (5062.44 was ERC), Jan 2023 128,650. That does seem to be the train of thought on the retirement board, don’t overpay the mortgage and throw everything at your pension! I’ve got to say though a paid off mortgage would give me more peace of mind at the moment, especially with everything that’s going on at the moment, I may change my mind as things start to move forward but at the moment I’m going to stick with my overpayments.
Ive not been posting as regularly lately and have not been very disaplined with keeping tabs on my cash and as a consequence I can feel things starting to slip again. Work is absolutely pants at the moment and I’ve slipped back into my negative state of mind and my mood is very low, I’m overeating and drinking wine most nights as a ‘treat’ but I need to try and pull myself together as I’m in a bit of a bad habit now. I’ve downloaded my fitness pal to start documenting my calories and it’s been a bit of an eye opener for me in terms of how much I’ve been over indulging. No wonder my clothes don’t fit me! I’m sticking to 1500 calories a day and trying to walk 10000 steps a day. I walked just over 8000 steps yesterday and it only earned me an additional 90 calories. I was good all day with sticking to my calories but then a couple of glasses of wine last night pushed me over the 2000 mark! Will do better today.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.
