No I am still expected to work 100% of my hours which has left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. Especially when half the workforce is still furloughed.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

So today was a little bit easier on work. Not saying I’m happy but I didn’t feel as near to tears today.Money news - the mortgage payment has now shown £62,496 so we have moved down into the next bracket. Would love to be able to get rid of the £496 on next pay day but that will be a pipe dream now. If I could even make the smallest payment next month I will be happy! Meter readings I submitted yesterday have now shown on account so if I put another £60 in that pot I’ll be on track to have the money there for my next bill in July. Can’t think of anything else exciting except to say I managed another NSD and current account is up to date, no surprises.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Your normal mortgage payment will reduce the £496, maybe plan for clearing it over 3 months instead.
Have you put your figures into a mortgage overpayment calculator to see how it reduces with each payment and how it reduces with a small O/P?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Glad work was better. 👍
I find weekly tilley tidies work for me (in a small way) to boost my OP.
It doesn't seem a lot, but rounding down to nearest £5 saves me 3-4 days of monthly interest.
Something similar may work for you, keeping the momentum going in those lulls between pay days...If it's not adding up, compound it!4 -
Hi moving forwards, I have only really put the large amounts in I never thought of putting a smaller amount in maybe that’s what I need to do to try and keep myself motivated. Thanks Grogged, I have my Tilly tidys set up to be swept into my Xmas savings account and so far have managed to save around £42 just from sweeps so it does all add up!Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

another NSD day under my belt. A week to go until pay day and budget in tact. Tomorrow I will do my last shop of the month and my budget is £50 for the week. Should be more than doable, I have no toiletries or cleaning products to buy and I have a few evening’s meals in the freezer so i am aiming for £45 spend so I can pay a sneaky £5 of the Halifax card.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Well I did it! 1st time ever I have stuck to a grocery budget for a whole month!!! Went to Aldi this week as my final week of the month means I had £50 to spend and I came in at £48.11. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the store was in comparison to other times I have been, I think they are a lot stricter now on how many people are allowed in.I now have £37 in my current account with 1 direct debit for my phone to come out next week and I had budgeted £15 for diesel this week but I think it’s unlikely I’ll need this so I am hoping that if I can get to Thursday without needing to fill up my car I can make another overpayment to the Halifax credit card of £15.Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Great news, well done!
Our A1di shop yesterday was also quiet. If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
Not quite a NSD day today, got to 6pm and decided to treat myself to a bottle of wine as a reward for a particularly stressful, frustrating and unproductive 1st week back at work. So £7 transferred over to my current account from personal spends so at least it’s not impacted my budget.Found 21p on the floor so this has gone into my jar that I collect money that I find. It’s getting quite full and there are some notes in there as well, I reckon if I was to empty it today there would be around £70 at least, it’s just an old coffee jar and if I or OH finds any cash on the street it gets picked up and popped in the jar. I will only pick it up if there is nobody about, I’m not brave enough to if I think anyone will see 🙈Aiming to be mortgage free in 3 years June 2023.

Payday 4 days and counting, don’t know what my payslip will look like this month but I’m determined to find some money for an overpayment. I’m proud of how I have managed my money this month and thought I would list my wins below.
1,Made my 1st mortgage overpayment
2,found a system of managing my grocery budget and have stuck religiously to it, no top up shops required.
3, made an additional overpayment to the Halifax credit card, £25 from cancelled DD’d
4, Paid for my house insurance up front for the full year instead of monthly
5, have my savings pots in tact, no dipping into them as the end of the month nears
6, have managed my personal spending money well, normally I would blow this in the 1st week on hairdressers, getting my nails done ect but lockdown has taught me to be a bit more creative and I think I’ll continue to do my root touchUps and nails myself in the future.
