All done by phone call when I first did the first payment and then today they called back asking for the remaining balance1

if it was me i would be phoning my credit card or company or bank, if it was a debit card it would be a full refund by close of business on the same working day...................................................4

You certainly should not be paying them another penny, and I agree with BT. You should be trying to get your money back from your card provider because you were obviously misled into believing you had to pay a scammer's scammer.
