It is benefit fraud because they send a letter every year and on the letter it states the hours that you work. You should have noticed that it was wrong and you should have contacted DWP to report it. It's unlikely that they will take you to court but you will have to repay the overpayment.

9 years of carers allowance is going to be a lot of money to repay.
You say you were getting just over £400 per month. So its got to be around 40-50 Thousand pounds over 9 years

I’m sure CA isn’t that much, isn’t it just shy of £70 a week, so £350 tops on a 5 week month, but normally closer to £280? Unless there are premiums I’m still not sure what the OP was claiming.

It was £66.15 per week before the April Increase this year. No idea where the £400 amount came from that the OP stated.

It's unlikely but no one can tell you for certain. You will be looking at a huge amount of money for the over payment, if it's been 9 years.

I thought that £400 was what they earned? Though that may not make sense with working 39hrs each week, unless it was what they earned in a week in which case yes, absolutely way over the limit.

That's what i thought at first but then realised they work 39 hours per week so they can't possibly earn £400 per month.

I so sent my wage slips off  when I first applied for cares allowance I was getting some thing like £400.20 a month

This was said immediately after being asked how much the payments were. I believe the above is two sentences, which answer the two questions asked in the posts previously. There should be a full stop after allowance (in my opinion).  It can’t be wages, it can’t be carers allowance.

This is either going to end up a 20 page thread or a mystery thread...

perhaps he was getting carers plus an income topup. I claim carers for my wife and used to get just over 100 per week
