Well we got nowhere with the credit card, we'll just have to see if Travel Republic have a heart. Why should they be selling flights as an agent and there not be the same security as you get from buying a holiday through them.0

You have a right to complain as they are trying to pass the buck

For our travel date which is this Sunday the TR refund date for holidays ,holidays not flight only, is mid June, they have told us we have to wait til then and if they have had the money from V A then we'll be re-embursed, unfortunately we won't know til then.

Package holidays should be refunded in 14 days
Flights booked direct with airline 7 days
But there are no legal timeframe on flight by a travel agent.

Just read an article by Which.co.uk which says that the company that took your money for the flight are the company that should be refunding you, hope that's right in our case.0

When is/was the flight and have Virgin cancelled it yet?If Travel Republic are liable to refund you then they are liable to refund you now, not when they get refunded by Virgin. Anything else is just them trying it on.If Travel Republic are liable for breach of contract then so is your credit card provider. Anything else is just them trying it on.You will want to write to Travel Republic to demand a refund (I would advise the Resolver website, but if not letter or email)You will also want to raise a chargeback request with your credit card provider and also raise a s75 claim against them. You can also submit these in writing (Resolver or otherwise), but should also attempt to call them.Get all of this started as soon as you know for sure that the flight is not going ahead.Take any further "advice" from people who potentially owe you money, with an appropriately large pinch of salt.EDIT: You also need to double check whether your contract is with Travel Republic or Virgin. Have TR confirmed that the contract is with them or are they just assisting? A quick scan of their T&Cs suggested that the contract may be with Virgin with a "single element" booking, but it is worth checking.0
